''Laugh, Pagliacci'' (Italian: ''I pagliacci'') is a 1943 Italian-German historical drama film directed by Giuseppe Fatigati and starring Alida Valli, Beniamino Gigli and Carlo Romano. A separate German-language version ''Laugh Bajazzo'' was also produced.Bock & Bergfelder p.217 It was shot in Berlin at a time when Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy were allies in the Second World War. Giuseppe Fatigati
Giuseppe Fatigati (20 September 1906 – 9 September 1975) was an Italian film editor, producer and director. Life and career Born in Terracina, Latina, Fatigati started his career as a film editor in the early 1930s, and with this role he often collaborated to films directed by Mario Camerini, Gennaro Righelli and Guido Brignone. Besides serving as assistant director in several films he edited, Fatigati also had a limited activity as a film director, being better known for the musical comedy ''Voglio bene soltanto a te'', starring Beniamino Gigli. Starting from the second half of the 1940s he focused into producing, and he financed some films directed by Luigi Comencini, Riccardo Freda, Goffredo Alessandrini and Guido Brignone, among others. Paolo Ferrari (actor)
Paolo Ferrari (26 February 1929 – 6 May 2018) was an Italian actor, voice actor and television presenter. Biography Ferrari was born in Brussels as his father was at the time the Italian consul in the Belgian Congo, and was in Belgium for a diplomatic mission. His mother, Giulietta, was a concert pianist. He made his acting debut at 9 years old, in Alessandro Blasetti's ''Ettore Fieramosca'' and he appeared in over 45 films between 1938 and 2018. He became first known as "the balilla Paolo", a character he played in numerous radio programs for children and teenagers during the fascist era. After the war he studied at the Silvio d’Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts. Ferrari died in Rome on 6 May 2018, at the age of 89. Karl Hermann Martell (November 17, 1906 in Tilsit – December 28, 1966 in Hamburg) was a German actor. Martell was only 14 when he had his first performance in a silent movie, ''Das große Geheimnis'' (1920). In subsequent years, he was often seen as a supporting actor. In the 1930s, he reached main billing in romance and adventure films and acted as a partner of Zarah Leander in four movies. During World War II he participated in '' Alarm'', ''Ohm Krüger'', '' Back Then'' and ''Das alte Lied''. Dagny Servaes (10 March 1894 – 10 July 1961) was a German-Austrian stage and film actress. In the theatre she appeared in the productions of Max ReinhardtStyan p.89 and Berthold Brecht. Servaes appeared in around sixty films during her career, initially in lead and later in supporting roles. One of her earliest screen performances was in the 1917 propaganda film '' Dr. Hart's Diary''. She also voiced the character of the evil queen in a German language dub of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs made for the Austrian market in 1938. Paul Hörbiger (29 April 1894 – 5 March 1981) was an Austrian theatre and film actor. Life and work Paul Hörbiger was born in the Hungarian capital Budapest, then part of Austria-Hungary, the son of engineer Hanns Hörbiger, founder of the '' Welteislehre'' cosmological concept, and elder brother of actor Attila Hörbiger.
