Latin house is an electronic dance music genre that combines house and Latin American music, such as that of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, and African origin. House Music
House is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by a repetitive Four on the floor (music), four-on-the-floor beat and a typical tempo of 115–130 beats per minute. It was created by DJs and music producers from Chicago's underground Clubbing (subculture), club culture and evolved slowly in the early/mid 1980s as DJs began altering disco songs to give them a more mechanical beat. By early 1988, house became mainstream and supplanted the typical 80s music beat. Raze (house-music Group)
Raze was an American electronic dance music group formed in 1986 by multi-instrumentalist and producer Vaughan Mason. Raze also included producer Erique Dial, vocalists Keith Thompson, Wanda Sykes, Bobby Coleman, and DJ Stephon Johnson. Biography Early releases included "Jack the Groove" and "Let the Music Move U", both in 1986. "Jack the Groove" was one of the first house music hits in the UK, entering the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart in January 1987. Along with Steve "Silk" Hurley's "Jack Your Body", a UK No. 1 the same month, it presaged the popularity of the genre in the UK in the late 1980s. Fulanito is an American musical group based in Washington Heights in New York City. The group combines traditional merengue with elements of other genres such as house, hip hop, and bachata among others. With over five million albums sold throughout the world, they were at one time the top selling act in Colombia, and were placed on other charts including those of Japan, Switzerland, United States, and Chile. Merengue is a type of music and Merengue (dance), dance originating in present-day Dominican Republic which has become a very popular genre throughout Latin America, and also in several major cities in the United States with Latino communities. Merengue was inscribed on November 30, 2016, in the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. Proyecto Uno (from Spanish into English: Project One) is a Dominican-American Hip hop/ Merengue house group which helped popularize a style of music that blends merengue with techno, dancehall, hip-hop/ rap and reggae music. The band was founded in New York City's East Side in 1989 by Nelson Zapata and managed by Porfirio "Popi" Piña. C+C Music Factory was an American musical group formed in 1989 by David Cole and Robert Clivillés. Strictly Rhythm is an American house music record label. History The label was founded on May 1, 1989, by Gladys Pizarro and Mark Finkelstein, who were both working as A&R in a label called Spring Records. Working with house music artists from the beginning, during the 1990s the label had a string of hit releases by Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, Masters at Work, Josh Wink, Armand Van Helden and Kenny Dope, amongst others.
