Laterality (journal)
''Laterality: Asymmetries of Body, Brain and Cognition'' is a bimonthly peer-reviewed academic journal covering the study of laterality, and related behavioral and neurological factors, in human and non-human species. It was established in 1996, with Michael Corballis (University of Auckland), Chris McManus (University College London), and Phil Bryden (University of Waterloo) as founding editors-in-chief. Michael Peters (University of Guelph) served as editor after Bryden's death in 1996. Mike Nicholls (Flinders University) and Giorgio Vallortigara (University of Trento) replaced Corballis and Peters in 2007 after McManus retired and continued as editors-in-chief until 2018. Neuropsychology
Neuropsychology is a branch of psychology concerned with how a person's cognition and behavior are related to the brain and the rest of the nervous system. Professionals in this branch of psychology often focus on how injuries or illnesses of the brain affect cognitive and behavioral functions. It is both an experimental and clinical field of psychology, thus aiming to understand how behavior and cognition are influenced by brain function and concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and cognitive effects of neurological disorders. Whereas classical neurology focuses on the pathology of the nervous system and classical psychology is largely divorced from it, neuropsychology seeks to discover how the brain correlates with the mind through the study of neurological patients. Mike Nicholls
Mike Nicholls is an Australian researcher in experimental psychology. Biography In 1988 he graduated in psychology from Adelaide University before completing his doctorate in 1993 at Cambridge University with Janette Atkinson as a Cambridge Commonwealth Trust scholar. In 1994 he was appointed lecturer at University of Melbourne where he established the Laterality Laboratory. He was appointed Strategic Professor in Psychology at Flinders University in 2010, where he heads thBrain and Cognition Laband is Dean of Research for the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work. He has made significant contributions to research in the fields of spatial attention and laterality, including the development of a new handedness questionnaire, the Flanders. The University of New England (UNE) is a public university in Australia with approximately 22,500 higher education students. Its original and main campus is located in the city of Armidale in northern central New South Wales. UNE was the first Australian university established outside a state capital city. Lesley Joy Rogers
Lesley Joy Rogers (born 31 July 1943) is a neurobiologist and emeritus professor of neuroscience and animal behaviour at the University of New England. Academic career and education Rogers obtained Bachelor of Science with honours at the University of Adelaide in 1964. She worked in various positions at Harvard University, New England Medical Centre Hospital, University of Sussex, and Open University. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in 1971 and a Doctor of Science in 1987, both from the University of Sussex. In 2000, Rogers was made a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science. In 2003, she was awarded the Clarke Medal in zoology from the Royal Society of New South Wales, and also received the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research, the Academic Women's Special Achievement Award and also the Centenary Medal in 2003. Giorgio Vallortigara
Giorgio Vallortigara is an Italian neuroscientist. Biography In 1983 he graduated in experimental psychology from the University of Padua, where he also obtained his research doctorate in 1990. In 1991 he moved to the University of Sussex, with a post-doctoral scholarship. found cerebral lateralization in lower vertebrates, such as fish and amphibians. Many of his articles have been published in Nature, Science, Current Biology, PNAS.
