Lasseter (musical)
''Lasseter'' is an Australian musical with book and lyrics by Reg Livermore and music by Sandra McKenzie and Patrick Flynn. Described as a musical fable, it follows the spiritual journey of a disillusioned group of young people who leave the city and temptations of consumer society in search of a Utopia in the Australian outback. The title of the musical was inspired by the explorer Harold Bell Lasseter (but the musical is not about him). Reg Livermore later claimed the musical "didn't hit its mark (nobody's fault but my own I suppose; a script that was simultaneously earnest and ludicrous)." Development Livermore, best known at that time as an actor, started working on ''Lasseter'' about the same time he joined the cast of the Australian production of ''Hair''. Patrick Flynn (composer)
Patrick Flynn (18 May 1936, Birmingham, England — 10 September 2008, Los Angeles, California) was a composer and conductor who was active in the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. Flynn conducted for many prominent orchestras and festivals worldwide, including the BBC Orchestras and Singers, BBC, the Paris Opera, the Spoleto and Varna International Festivals, the Finnish National Opera, Holland Symfonia, Holland Simfonia and the orchestras of New Zealand, Rio de Janeiro, Cologne, Louisville, and San Diego. Conducting and compositions A pre-eminent conductor for the ballet, Patrick Flynn conducted for Rudolf Nureyev on Broadway and for the American Ballet Theatre, the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Netherlands Dance Theatre, among others. AusStage: The Australian Live Performance Database is an online database which records information about live performances in Australia, providing records of productions from the first recorded performance in Australia (1789, by convicts) up until the present day. The only repository of Australian performing arts in the world, it is managed by a consortium of universities, government agencies, industry organisations and arts institutions, and mostly funded by the Australian Research Council. ''Ned Kelly'' (sometimes titled ''Ned Kelly: The Electric Music Show'') is an Australian musical with book and lyrics by Reg Livermore and music by Patrick Flynn. It tells the story of Australian bushranger Ned Kelly with an eclectic score combining rock opera, vaudeville and burlesque. The original Australian production played in Adelaide and Sydney in 1977 and 1978. Development and concept album Livermore began writing ''Ned Kelly'' in 1972 when touring as a performer with the musical ''Hair'' in Perth and Adelaide.
