Lasse Holm
Lars-Eric Gustav "Lasse" Holm (born 9 December 1943) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and television host. Holm has also hosted and appeared in several television shows. As singer Since childhood, he was interested in music and was a member of a lot of pop music and rock music groups in the 1960s: ''Doug and the Millsmen'', ''The Spacemen'' and ''The Moonlighters''. Holm and singer Monica Törnell represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 with the song "E' de' det här du kallar kärlek". As songwriter Holm is best known as a schlager composer. During the 1980s, he was a songwriter for Chips and country band Mats Rådberg & Rankarna. "Eloise" is a Swedish-language song written by and Lasse Holm and performed by Swedish dansband Arvingarna. It won the Melodifestivalen 1993 and finished 7th in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, where it represented . The country had been one of the favourites to win that year. Sweden was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "", written by Peter Himmelstrand, and performed by Björn Skifs. The Swedish participating broadcaster, (SR), selected its entry through 1978. Before Eurovision 1978 1978 was the selection for the 18th song to represent at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 17th time that (SR) used this system of picking a song. 58 songs were submitted to SR for the competition. The final was held in the in Stockholm on 11 February 1978, presented by Ulf Elfving and broadcast on TV1 but was not broadcast on radio. Wizex
Wizex is a Swedish dansband formed in Osby in 1973. It purchased the rights to the name from a band that started as ''Ulrik Wittmans Kvintett'' in 1957''.'' When Ulrik Wittman left the band in 1963 they started to use the name ''Wizex''. When read out the name sounds like "The Six of Us", "vi sex", in Swedish, and there were six members in the band when the name was changed. Today, the band is considered to have six founders (who were allowed to purchase the name), and hence use 1973 as the starting point. Wizex broke through in 1977 when they performed on nationwide TV-show '' Nygammalt'' and got its first top ten on the Swedish charts same year with the song ''Vagabond.'' The Polar Music Prize is a Swedish international award founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, best known as the manager of the Swedish band ABBA, with a donation to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. The award is annually given to one contemporary musician and one classical musician. Exceptions were made in 2001, when it was awarded to three musicians (one composer, one contemporary musician and one inventor), and 2003, when it was awarded only to one musician.
