Lasersaur
Addie Wagenknecht (born April 15, 1981) is an American artist and researcher living in New York City and Liechtenstein. Her work deals primarily with pop culture, feminist theory, new media and open source software and hardware. She frequently works in collectives, which have included Nortd Labs, F.A.T. lab, and Deep Lab. She has received fellowships and residencies from Eyebeam, Mozilla, The Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University and CERN. She received a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia and Computer Science from University of Oregon in 2001, and an MPS from New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2007. Stefan Hechenberger
Stefan Hechenberger is an Austrian artist and programmer. His works include interactive software, computer vision projects and open-source hardware. Hechenberger has worked with Zach Lieberman in creating the OpenCV library for openFrameworks, an open source C++ library for creative coding and graphics.openFrameworks website. In 2006, Hechenberger co-founded the New York City and Vienna based research and development collaborative, NORTD labs, which developed the open source system called CUBIT (multi-touch) in 2007 and the more recent iteration TouchKit in 2008. . Laser Cutter
Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to vaporize materials, resulting in a cut edge. While typically used for industrial manufacturing applications, it is now used by schools, small businesses, architecture, and hobbyists. Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high-power laser most commonly through optics. New Museum
The New Museum of Contemporary Art is a museum at 235 Bowery, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was founded in 1977 by Marcia Tucker. Eyebeam is a not-for-profit art and technology center in New York City, founded by John Seward Johnson III with co-founders David S. Johnson and Roderic R. Richardson. Multi-touch
In computing, multi-touch is technology that enables a surface (a touchpad or touchscreen) to recognize the presence of more than one somatosensory system, point of contact with the surface at the same time. The origins of multitouch began at CERN, MIT, University of Toronto, Carnegie Mellon University and Bell Labs in the 1970s. CERN started using multi-touch screens as early as 1976 for the controls of the Super Proton Synchrotron. Capacitive multi-touch displays were popularized by Apple Inc., Apple's iPhone in 2007. Multi-touch may be used to implement additional functionality, such as pinch to zoom or to activate certain subroutines attached to predefined gestures using gesture recognition.
