Las Vigas is a Municipalities of Guerrero, municipality in the Mexico, Mexican List of states of Mexico, state of Guerrero. It is located about southeast of the state capital of Chilpancingo. Its creation from the municipality of San Marcos Municipality, Guerrero, San Marcos was approved in 2021 and went into force on 21 May 2022. Geography The municipality of Las Vigas is located in the Costa Chica of Guerrero, Costa Chica region of eastern Guerrero. It borders the municipalities of San Marcos to the west, Tecoanapa (municipality), Tecoanapa to the north, Florencio Villarreal to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Most of the municipality lies within the drainage basin of Tecomate Lagoon, which extends into the southwestern part of the municipality, and is part of the Lagunas Costeras de Guerrero Key Biodiversity Area. San Marcos, Guerrero
San Marcos is a town in the Mexican state of Guerrero. It serves as the municipal seat of the surrounding municipality of San Marcos. The town currently has about 12 000 inhabitants. Culturally and ethnically, the town and the municipality belong to what is known in Mexico as the Costa Chica (small coast) of Guerrero and Oaxaca. A ''presidente municipal'' ( English: "municipal president") is the chief of government of municipios in Mexico. The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN; "National Meteorological Service") is Mexico's national weather organization. It collects data and issues forecasts, advisories, and warnings for the entire country. History A presidential decree founded El Observatorio Meteorológico y Astrónomico de México (The Meteorological and Astronomical Observatory of Mexico) on February 6, 1877 as part of the Geographic Exploring of the National Territory commission.
