Las Flores is a municipality in the Honduran department of Lempira. Las Flores is one of the municipalities of the Lempira department. It is located from Gracias on the paved road that leads to Santa Rosa de Copán. The town is away from the paved road. History The very first settlers were from La Paz department. It was first called "Las Flores de Santa Bárbara", honoring the image of the saint of that place. It was granted the category of municipality on 1 January 1869. Geography This municipality is in a valley, near to a river. The vegetation corresponds to dry sub-tropical forests. The weather is hot since it is in a valley. There are some hills around it but they are not so high or steep. Talgua
Talgua () is a municipality in the Honduran department of Lempira. History Talgua was founded in the colonial period in the place called "Las Mercedes" village. Also it was known as a village where Lenca Indians dwelled, by Pedro de Alvarado and his troops. In the administration of president Ramon Villeda Morales, on January 2, 1963, the capital was moved from Talagua to San Antonio de Pedernales. The old church is preserved as a relic. Geography It is located right on top a small hill on the side of a river. But there are high mountains around its capital and some of these belong to Copán department. Afro-Hondurans
Afro-Hondurans or Black Hondurans are Hondurans of Sub-Saharan African descent. The CIA world factbook regards their population to be around 2% of the country's population, while other sources estimate the percentage of Afro-Hondurans as being 10%; the latter number including Garifunas. Estimates vary with concervative estimates ranging as low as 1% and higher estimates ranging to 30%. They descended from: enslaved Africans by the Spanish, as well as those who were enslaved from the West Indies and identify as Creole peoples, and the Garifuna who descend from exiled zambo Maroons from Saint Vincent. The Creole people were originally from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands, while the Garifuna people were originally from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Mestizo
(; ; fem. ) is a term used for racial classification to refer to a person of mixed European and Indigenous American ancestry. In certain regions such as Latin America, it may also refer to people who are culturally European even though their ancestors are not. Copán
Copán is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization in the Copán Department of western Honduras, not far from the border with Guatemala. This ancient Maya city mirrors the beauty of the physical landscape in which it flourished—a fertile, well-watered mountain valley in western Honduras at an elevation of 600 meters (1,970 feet) above mean sea level. Lepaera
Lepaera is a municipality in the Honduran department of Lempira. It has tropical climate all year round. Lepaera is one of the oldest municipalities of the Lempira department. It is also the departmental capital of the municipality. The distance to Lepaera from Gracias is 15 km on the road that leads to Santa Rosa de Copán Access is paved but dangerous curves necessitate caution.
