Lars Westman (writer)
Lars Gustaf Westman (16 April 1934 – 16 January 2021) was a Swedish writer and journalist. Biography Westman was the grandson of architect Carl Westman and the artist Elin Westman. He was, for many years, a journalist at ''Stockholms-Tidningen ''Stockholms-Tidningen'' ( Swedish: ''The Stockholm Times'') was a Swedish-language morning newspaper published in Stockholm, Sweden, between 1889 and 1984 with an interruption from 1966 to 1981. Lars Westman
Lars Westman (born 27 September 1938 in Östersund) is a Swedish film maker and cartoonist. Life and work He studied art (Kursverksamheten) at Stockholm University in 1963, art and advertising at Beckmans Reklamskola, Stockholm, in 1964, and attended Swedish Television's producer school in 1969. He worked for ten years as a typographer, and has been involved in film-making for nearly 50 years, primarily for Scandinavian television. More than 280 of his films have been broadcast in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, and US, and via satellite by Art and the Discovery Channel. He has made three films with cinema releases in Scandinavia. His work has won prizes in Canada, Germany, Bulgaria, Sweden, and Brazil. He was awarded a lifelong stipendium for Swedish filmmakers by the Swedish Ministry of Culture. One of his projects, a series entitled ''Around the World'', took him to 42 countries. Carl Westman
Ernst Carl Westman (20 February 1866 – 23 January 1936) was a Swedish architect and interior designer. He was an early adopter of the National Romantic Style, but turned later to the neo-classical style of the 1920s. Biography Carl Westman was born in Uppsala in 1866. He studied at the Royal Institute of Technology in 1885-1889, and then at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in 1889–1892, in Stockholm. In 1893 he married artist Elin Andersson and moved to the United States where he practiced with architect R. L. Daus in New York City in 1893–1895. In 1895, he returned to Stockholm to work for architect Aron Johansson (who at that time was the architect working with the new Parliament House (1895–1904) in Stockholm). In 1897, Westman opened his own architect bureau. He became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in 1912 and in 1916 he became the chief architect of the National Swedish Board of Health. ''Stockholms-Tidningen'' ( Swedish: ''The Stockholm Times'') was a Swedish-language morning newspaper published in Stockholm, Sweden, between 1889 and 1984 with an interruption from 1966 to 1981. It was one of the major dailies in the country together with ''Dagens Nyheter'' and ''Aftonbladet'' in the 1960s. History and profile ''Stockholms-Tidningen'' was established by Anders Jeurling in 1889. The paper was based in Stockholm. During its early stage it had three editions: morning edition, evening edition and provincial edition. However, in 1890 only two editions continued. In order to gain larger readership the price of ''Stockholms-Tidningen'' was kept low, and its content included popular and concentrated news. The paper sold 10,000 copies in 1890 and 42,000 copies in 1894. It achieved a circulation more than 100,000 copies in 1900, becoming the first Swedish newspaper which exceeded that amount of circulation and was the first mass circulation paper in the country.
