Lars Schwander
Lars Schwander (born 15 December 1957) is a Danish photographer and gallerist. As a photographer he is most known for his portraits of international artists. In 1996 he founded Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen, an exhibition space for art photography. Biography Lars Schwanderwww.larsschwander.com was born in 1957. In the 1980s he was the co-editor of the magazine ''Sidegaden'' before founding his own magazine ''Copyright''. Photography Schwander has portrayed many international artists in his photography, including Björk, Leonard Cohen, Annie Leibovitz, Peter Greenaway, Roger Ballen, Günther Förg, Martin Kippenberger, Duane Michals, Helmut Newton, Yoko Ono, Cindy Sherman and Lawrence Weiner. Photography In Denmark
In Denmark, photography has developed from strong participation and interest in the very beginnings of the art in 1839 to the success of a considerable number of Danes in the world of photography today. Pioneers Mads Alstrup and Georg Emil Hansen paved the way for a rapidly growing profession during the last half of the 19th century while both artistic and press photographers have made internationally recognized contributions. Although Denmark was slow to accept photography as an art form, Danish photographers are now increasingly active, participating in key exhibitions around the world. Among Denmark's most successful contemporary photographers are Jacob Aue Sobol, who gained recognition for portraits of his Greenlandic girlfriend, and Per Bak Jensen, who introduced a new perspective to modern landscape photography. Fogtdal Photographers Award
The Fogtdal Photographers Awards ( Danish: Fogtdals Fotografpriser) is the largest awards programme dedicated specifically to Danish photography. It was established in 2004 by Danish publisher Palle Fogtdal. The awards programme consists of an Honorary Award, rewarded with DKK 250,000, and five other awards, each rewarded with a travel grant of DKK 50,000. Every year the winners are presented in an exhibition at Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen. Louisiana Museum Of Modern Art
The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is an art museum located on the shore of the Øresund Sound in Humlebæk, north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the most visited art museum in Denmark, and has an extensive permanent collection of modern and contemporary art, dating from World War II to the present day; in addition, it has a comprehensive programme of special exhibitions. The museum is also acknowledged as a milestone in modern Danish architecture, and is noted for its synthesis of art, architecture, and landscape, such as was showcased in an installation entitled "Riverbed" shown in 2014–2015. ''Politiken'' is a leading Danish daily broadsheet newspaper, published by JP/Politikens Hus in Copenhagen, Denmark. Viggo Rivad
Viggo Reinholdt Rivad (3 July 1922 – 8 February 2016) was a Danish photographer who started as an autodidact in 1946, and went on to win numerous competitions in the 1950s and 1960s. Around 1960, he adopted his so-called "essay approach", resulting in a series of related photographs, such as ''Et farvel'' (1962) and ''Laurits'' (1971). Rivad, who also earned a living as a taxi driver, was a quiet, dedicated photographer, concentrating on disadvantaged areas and people on the fringes of society. His humanitarian messages were a result of his indignation, and his concern for society's outcasts. Rivad died in Copenhagen on 8 February 2016 at the age of 93. Amaliegade
Amaliegade is a street in central Copenhagen, Denmark, which makes up the longer of the two axes on which the Rococo district Frederiksstaden is centred. Amaliegade extends from Sankt Annæ Plads to Esplanaden, passing through the central plaza of Amalienborg Palace on the way where it intersects Frederiksgade, the other, shorter but more prominent, axis of the district. The street is dominated by a number of elegant mansions, most of which are from the second half of the 18th century. At Amalienborg Palace, Amaliegade is spanned by a colonnade. Gammel Strand
Gammel Strand (modern Danish for "old beach"; originally meant "the old shoreline", i.e. prior to land reclamations) is a street and public square in central Copenhagen, Denmark. On the south side it borders on the narrow Slotsholmens Canal while the north side is lined by a row of brightly coloured houses from the 18th and 19th century. Across the canal, Thorvaldsens Museum and Christiansborg Palace are seen on the island Slotsholmen. The art gallery Kunstforeningen and the Ministry of Culture are the most notable institutions facing the street.
