Larry Woodford
Larry Woodford is a former Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, who served one month in 2010. Woodford also served as a trustee in Noble County for eleven years, and worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for over three years. Before working for the Ohio Department of Transportation, Woodford worked for 26 years as a master electrician for Central Ohio Coal Company. When incumbent Jennifer Garrison resigned late in 2010 to take an appointment under Governor Ted Strickland, Woodford was appointed for the remaining month of her term. Woodford was replaced by Representative-elect Andy Thompson in January 2011. Jennifer Garrison
Jennifer Garrison (born April 2, 1962) is an American politician of the Democratic party from Marietta, Ohio. From 2005 to 2010 she represented the 93rd District in the Ohio House of Representatives, which includes Guernsey, Monroe and Noble counties, most of Washington County, and part of Muskingum County, all in southeast Ohio. On August 3, 2009, Garrison announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Ohio Secretary of State. Garrison withdrew from the Ohio Secretary of State race in January 2010. She resigned from the State House in November 2010 to take the position of Commissioner of the Ohio State Employment Relations Board. Her nomination, a recess appointment by outgoing Democratic Governor Ted Strickland, was rejected by the Republican-majority Ohio Senate less than a month later. Andy Thompson (Ohio Politician)
Andrew Miller Thompson (February 8, 1963 – May 13, 2020) was an American politician who was a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 95th district, which includes Carroll, Harrison and Noble counties, and portions of Washington and Belmont counties. Prior to 2012 redistricting, he represented the 93rd district for one term. He served three terms on Marietta City Council (2005–2011) and was a co-publisher of his family's magazine, ''Bird Watcher's Digest''. Early life Thompson was born in Pella, Iowa on February 8, 1963. He moved to Marietta, Ohio in 1971 and graduated from Marietta High School in 1981. Marietta is a city in, and the county seat of, Washington County, Ohio, United States. It is located in southeastern Ohio at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio Rivers, northeast of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Ohio House Of Representatives
The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Members are limited to four successive two-year elected terms (terms are considered successive if they are separated by less than four years). Noble County, Ohio
Noble County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,115, making it the fourth-least populous county in Ohio. Its county seat is Caldwell. The county is named for Rep. Warren P. Noble of the Ohio House of Representatives, who was an early settler there. History Noble County was formed on March 11, 1851, from portions of Guernsey, Morgan, Monroe and Washington counties. It was the last and youngest county to be formed in the state. It was named for either James Noble or Warren P. Noble, each of whom was an early settler in this region. Noble County was home to the first North American oil well, the Thorla-McKee Well, which struck oil in 1814. For a time this was a center of oil production in the state. Central Ohio Coal Company
The Central Ohio Coal Company, once a subsidiary of American Electric Power, is now a subsidiary of CONSOL Energy. At one time, they owned and operated the Big Muskie in the Cumberland, Ohio area. They were responsible for fueling the AEP Muskingum River Power Plant at Relief, Ohio. From the 1960s to the late 1980s, the company employed nearly 1,000 people in southeastern Ohio, producing up to 1.7 million tons of coal annually. Today, it is still one of the major employers in Morgan County, Ohio, although its high-sulfur coal now spurs little demand. Theodore Strickland (born August 4, 1941) is an American politician who was the 68th governor of Ohio, serving from 2007 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the United States House of Representatives, representing (1993–1995, 1997–2007). In the 2006 gubernatorial election, Strickland was elected to succeed term-limited Republican incumbent Bob Taft, receiving 60% of the vote and defeating Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. He was narrowly defeated for re-election in the 2010 gubernatorial election by former U.S. Representative John Kasich.
