Largs Academy
Largs Academy is a Scottish secondary school, opened in August 1970, serving the towns of Largs, Fairlie, Skelmorlie and the island of Cumbrae, as well as taking placement requests from across Scotland, from places such as West Kilbride, Beith and Renfrewshire. As of March 2017, Largs Academy was in the top 30 schools for Higher Results in Scotland, sitting at number 27. Head Teachers As of January 2020 the new Headteacher is John Docherty. The previous Headteacher, Heather Burns, retired at the end of the first term of the 2019/2020 session after seven years as Headteacher. Creag Little
Creag Little (born 16 April 1993, in Greenock) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Darvel. He began his senior career with Greenock Morton, after coming through the youth system of rivals St Mirren. He has also played for Largs Thistle and Queen's Park. Club career Little started his career with St Mirren before transferring to Greenock Morton in the June 2011. Sir Colin Ian Birss (born December 1964 in Thurso) is a judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. Career Birss attended Largs Academy and then Lancaster Royal Grammar School. He graduated from Downing College, Cambridge in 1986 with a first class honours degree in metallurgy and materials sciences. Birss worked for Arthur Andersen until 1988 and after legal training at City University London he was called to the bar at Middle Temple in 1990, joining Three New Square, a specialist intellectual property set of barristers' chambers. Birss was made a Queen's Counsel in 2008. He was appointed a Specialist Circuit Judge on 5 October 2010 and assigned to the Patents County Court in 2010 and authorised to sit as a deputy High Court judge. Yashin were a British post-hardcore and metalcore band formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2006. They have toured with the likes of Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Black Veil Brides & Madina Lake and have also played at Download Festival, T in the Park and Sonisphere. History Early years (2006–2009) The band was founded by school friends: Rick Shiels (bassist) and Paul Charles Travers (guitarist) in Greenock. Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term " post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen. The genre expanded in the 1980s and 1990s with releases by bands from cities which had established hardcore scenes, such as Fugazi from Washington, D.C. as well as groups such as Big Black, Jawbox, Quicksand, and Shellac who stuck closer to post-hardcore's noise rock roots. Kevin McKay (born 24 May) is a Scottish DJ, music producer and record label owner now based in London. History McKay studied at The University of Strathclyde from 1989 to 1995. One night in 1991 while DJing at the University's student union, he met Andy Carrick. The pair subsequently began collaborating on music together. Three years later McKay secured £2000 of funding from The Princes' Trust to release their music on his Muzique Tropique imprint. McKay continued to DJ in Glasgow throughout the '90s and 2000s, holding residencies at clubs like Sub Club, The Tunnel, The Voodoo Room and The Apartment, promoting parties and inviting DJs like Francois Kevorkian, Roger Sanchez and Deep Dish to Glasgow.
