Lard (band)
Lard is an American hardcore punk/ industrial band founded in 1988 as a side project by Jello Biafra (vocals; formerly of Dead Kennedys), Al Jourgensen (guitar; of Ministry), Paul Barker (bass; also of Ministry), and Jeff Ward (drums; once a Ministry touring member). Over the years, several other members of Ministry played with Lard, namely Bill Rieflin, Mike Scaccia, and Rey Washam. Like most of Biafra's work, Lard's songs are angrily political (the War on Drugs is a particularly common theme) but often have a tinge of humor. Lard has not officially toured and has only performed live a handful of times, mostly around the San Francisco area (where Jello lives and operates his Alternative Tentacles record label). Omnibus Press is a publisher of music-related books. It publishes around 30 new titles a year to add to a backlist of over 300 titles currently in print. History Omnibus Press was launched in 1972 as a general non-fiction publisher to complement the sheet music published and distributed by its parent company Music Sales Group. The Power Of Lard
''The Power of Lard'' is the debut EP by Lard, released in 1989. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' wrote that "Biafra contributes a voice, label and sense of humor. That gets matched up to pounding, semi- industrialized rock by Ministry guitarist Al Jourgensen, bassist Paul Barker and drummer Jeff Ward. A casual and exciting bit of supergrouping, ''The Power of Lard'' (a three-song 12-inch) demonstrates the fun potential in this seemingly unlikely alliance." Jerry Smith, reviewer of British music newspaper ''Music Week'', was disappointed by this result of collaboration of different musicians. He wrote "Sadly, it is all rather predictable". The Official Albums Chart is the United Kingdom's industry-recognised national record chart for album, albums. Entries are ranked by sales and audio streaming. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on ''UKChartsPlus'' as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders.
