Laraaji
Laraaji (born Edward Larry Gordon, 3 May 1943) is an American multi-instrumentalist specializing in piano, zither and mbira. His albums include the 1980 release ''Day of Radiance, Ambient 3: Day of Radiance'', produced by Brian Eno as part of his ''Ambient'' series. Early life and career Born Edward Larry Gordon in Philadelphia, he studied violin, piano, trombone and voice in his early years in New Jersey. He attended Howard University, a historically black university in Washington, D.C., where he studied composition and piano. After studying at Howard University, Howard, he spent time in New York City pursuing a career as a stand-up comedian and actor, as well as playing Fender Rhodes electric piano in a jazz-rock band ‘Winds of Change’. Day Of Radiance
''Ambient 3: Day of Radiance'' (1980) is an album by the American ambient musician Laraaji (alias Edward Larry Gordon), which was produced by Brian Eno. Overview This album is the third entry of Eno’s Ambient series, which began in 1978 with ''Music for Airports'' followed by ''The Plateaux of Mirror''. The series ended with ''On Land''. Compared to the rest of the series, ''Day of Radiance'' features very little in the way of electronics. Laraaji uses a variety of acoustic stringed instruments such as a hammered dulcimer and 36-stringed open-tuned zither. Content The first three tracks are variations on a theme named "The Dance", and are delivered in a fast, hypnotic, Gamelan-like, rhythmic pace on a hammered dulcimer. Music For Films III
''Music for Films III'' is the third entry in Brian Eno's "Music for Films" series. It was the first in the series to include music from artists other than Brian Eno, including Roger Eno, Michael Brook, Laraaji, and Harold Budd, among others, with Brian Eno involved with the production of all tracks. Several different versions of this album exist. The record and cassette release featured 15 tracks, while the original CD release contained the same tracks in a different playing order. In 2005, an updated CD, featuring two extra tracks, new artwork, a different playing order and sequencing by the group Marconi Union was released. Various tracks from ''Music for Films III'' were incorporated into the soundtrack for Al Reinert's 1989 documentary '' For All Mankind''. Medicine Singers
Medicine Singers is a group of singers and drummers in the Native American pow wow style. They sing in an Eastern Algonquian dialect under their original moniker, Eastern Medicine Singers. In 2017, they began collaborating with Israeli guitarist and producer Yonatan Gat, formerly of Monotonix, after meeting him in Austin, Texas, at the annual SXSW festival. All Saints Records is a British independent record label specialising in post-rock, downtempo and ambient music. History All Saints Records was established on 1 November 1991 by Dominic Norman-Taylor (formerly of Opal Records). Zither
Zither (; , from the Greek ''cithara'') is a class of stringed instruments. The modern instrument has many strings stretched across a thin, flat body. Zithers are typically played by strumming or plucking the strings with the fingers or a plectrum. Roger Paul Eugene Eno (born 29 April 1959) is an English ambient music composer. He is the younger brother of Brian Eno. Early life and education Roger Paul Eugene Eno began euphonium lessons when he was 12 years old, and entered Colchester Institute to study music when he was 16. Jonathan Goldman
Jonathan Goldman is an American author, musician and spiritual teacher in the fields of Harmonics and Sound Healing. He is based in Boulder, Colorado. Career Goldman began as a guitarist in the Boston punk scene in the late 1970s. Goldman began to research the science of sound and music psychology, directing his overall studies towards the possible use of sound as a healing force. In 1982, he founded the Sound Healers Association (SHA) in Lexington, Massachusetts. During this time, Goldman continued his research with a master's degree from Lesley University. He began recording his own music and he formed Spirit Music, one of the first record labels dedicated to the therapeutic use of sound and music. The Numero Group is an archival record label that creates compilations of previously released music, reissues original albums, and creates album reconstructions from a variety of musical genres.
