Laphroaig Scotch Open
The Madison Cash Spiel (formerly the Laphroaig Curling Championship, the Laphroaig Scotch Open, The Korbel Championship and the Morgan Stanley Curling Classic) was an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that took place at the Madison Curling Club in Madison, Wisconsin. The tournament was held in a round-robin format. The men's tournament, started in 2003 as part of the World Curling Tour The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. Todd Birr
Todd Birr (born April 20, 1968) is an American curler. He was a bronze medalist at the 2007 World Men's Curling Championship. Career Birr skipped his team to victory at the 2007 United States Curling Men's Championships, beating out teams such as Olympic bronze medalist Pete Fenson and former national champion Jason Larway in the process. He had relative success in prior nationals finishing fourth in 2006 and as a semi-finalist in 2004. His victory qualified his team of Bill Todhunter, Greg Johnson and Kevin Birr to a berth at the 2007 Ford World Men's Curling Championship representing team USA. There, Birr's was the only team to defeat Glenn Howard's Canadian team in the round robin when Howard wrecked on his last rock, and Birr bumped out a Canadian stone to score three giving him a victory. Jill Mouzar
Jillian Brothers (born May 20, 1983 as Jill Mouzar ronounced "MOW-zer" is a Canadian curler. Brothers was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia and now resides in Bedford, Nova Scotia. She currently plays second on Team Andrea Kelly out of New Brunswick. Career Brothers started curling in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Her first Nova Scotia junior championship was in 2001, along with Meaghan Smart, Meghan MacAdams, Carolyn Marshall, and coach Albert Smart. This team was the first Liverpool team to curl at the national level since 1970, representing Nova Scotia at the 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Patti Lank
Patti Lank (born July 4, 1964) is an American curler from Lewiston, New York. Career Patti Lank began curling at the age of eleven and competed at her first US National Championships in 1994 and her team placed fourth. She has since gone on to compete in 21 National Championships. Patti Lank has won the United States title five times (1997, 1999, 2002, 2004, and 2011) and competed in the World Championships held in those years. In 1995 Lank earned a silver medal at the United States Mixed Curling Championship. At her first world championships, held in Bern, Switzerland in 1997, she and her team placed sixth with a 4–5 record. She won the silver medal two years later at the 1999 World Championships, losing to Elisabet Gustafson's Swedish team in the final. That is her best finish at World's. Erika Lynn Brown (born January 25, 1973) is an American curler, currently residing in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. She started curling in 1980 and throws right-handed. Career As a 15-year-old, Brown represent the United States at the 1988 Winter Olympics when curling was a demonstration event. Brown played third on the team, skipped by Lisa Schoeneberg, and the team finished fifth. Brown then had a successful junior career, representing the United States at six (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994) World Junior Curling Championships, winning silver in 1992 and 1994 and a bronze in 1993. Mike Farbelow
Mike Farbelow (born March 30, 1963, in Saint Paul, Minnesota) is an American curler. He lives in Minneapolis. Career Farbelow began curling in 1977. Farbelow made appearances at the United States Men's Curling Championship in 1985, 1998, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. He served as alternate on Team Jacobson at the 2011 national championships. Farbelow is also the 2007 National club champion, 1985 Minnesota state champion, and the 1981 and 1983 Minnesota junior champion. Farbelow led his rink to a fifth-place finish in 2009, when he was the winner of the Ann Brown Sportsmanship Award. He then skipped his team to a silver medal at the 2010 U.S. Men's Championships, where they lost the gold medal match to Pete Fenson's rink. The 2012 Madison Cash Spiel was held from November 30 to December 2 at the Madison Curling Club in Madison, Wisconsin as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. The event was held in a round robin format. In the men's final, Pete Fenson won his second consecutive title and fourth title overall with a win over former teammate John Shuster. Fenson defeated Shuster in an extra end with a score of 6–5. In the women's final, Erika Brown defeated Jill Mouzar with a score of 8–7 to win her second consecutive and overall title.
