Laolu Akins
Olaolu Akintobi, popularly known as Laolu Akins (born November 1946) is a Nigerian music producer. He has worked with artists such as Shina Peters, Onyeka Onwenu, Adewale Ayuba, Mike Okri and Christy Essien-Igbokwe. He has produced Shina Peters albums ''Ace'' (1989), ''Shinamania'' (1990), ''Dancing Time'' (1991), and ''Experience'' (1992), and Adewale Ayuba's ''Bubble'' (1991), ''Play For Me'' (1992), and several other albums. He was supervising producer for the maiden recording of hip-hop duo P-Square, titled "Where Were You Last Night". Biography Early career Laolu Akins learned to play the drums at a Lagos City Youth Sports & Social Centre, financed by the then Federal Ministry Of Youth and Sports in Yaba, Lagos. Shina Peters
Sir Shina Peters (born Oluwashina Akanbi Peters; 30 May 1958) is a Nigerian Jùjú musician. Life Born Oluwashina Akanbi Peters in Ogun State, Peters' career in music began at a young age when he played with friends under the handle Olushina and His Twelve Fantastic Brothers. While playing with his friends, he taught himself how to play the piano and later joined Ebenezer Obey's band. Thereafter, he left Obey's band and joined General Prince Adekunle's band as a guitar player. Adekunle's band played in Lagos hotels such as Western Hotel, Palm Beach Hotel and Executive Hotel. When Adekunle was ill, Peters sometimes acted as lead singer. He left Adekunle to form Shina Adewale, a band with Segun Adewale. However, the duo soon split. Blo (band)
Blo was a Nigerian psychedelic funk ensemble formed in Lagos and active between 1972 and 1982. The main trio consisted of Laolu "Akins" Akintobi (drums), Berkely "Ike" Jones (guitar), and Mike "Gbenga" Odumosu (bass). The group fused the Afrobeat rhythms of Nigeria with funk and psychedelia derived from '60s Western rock music. History The roots of Blo lay in the successful mid-60s highlife group the Clusters, who also performed as a backing band for the Sierra Leonean pop star Geraldo Pino. In 1970, the trio of Akintobi, Jones, and Odumosu left the group to form Afrocollection with sisters Kehinde and Taiwo Lijadu, exploring a more Afro-rock approach. Ginger Baker
Peter Edward "Ginger" Baker (19 August 1939 – 6 October 2019) was an English drummer. His work in the 1960s and 1970s earned him the reputation of "rock's first superstar drummer", for a style that melded jazz and Music of Africa, African rhythms and pioneered both jazz fusion and world music.
