Laohwangping Airfield
Laohwangping Airfield (Chinese: 旧州机场) is a former World War II United States Army Air Forces airfield, located approximately 1 mile west of Jiuzhou Zhen (旧州镇), Huangping County, Guizhou Province, then in the Republic of China. Role in WWII It was designed to be a refuelling station for aircraft coming from Chihkiang Airfield, Hunan,. Eventually it became the primary home of the 35th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, which flew unarmed P-38 Lightning photo-reconnaissance aircraft from the airfield beginning in February 1945 until the end of the war. The Fourteenth Air Force (14 AF; Air Forces Strategic) was a numbered air force of the United States Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). It was headquartered at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is an American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II and the Korean War, among other conflicts. The Mustang was designed in April 1940 by a team headed by James H. Kindelberger of North American Aviation (NAA) in response to a requirement of the British Purchasing Commission. The Purchasing Commission approached North American Aviation to build Curtiss P-40 fighters under license for the Royal Air Force (RAF). Huaihua Zhijiang Airport
Huaihua Zhijiang Airport is an airport serving the city of Huaihua in Hunan Province, China. It is located in Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County, 31 kilometers from the city center.
