Laniel is an unorganized territory in the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality, Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, Quebec, Canada. It surrounds the northern portion of Lake Kipawa. An unorganized area or unorganized territory (french: Territoire non organisé) is any geographic region in Canada that does not form part of a municipality or Indian reserve. In these areas, the lowest level of government is provincial or territorial. In some of these areas, local service agencies may have some of the responsibilities that would otherwise be covered by municipalities. The Ottawa River (french: Rivière des Outaouais, Algonquin: ''Kichi-Sìbì/Kitchissippi'') is a river in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. It is named after the Algonquin word 'to trade', as it was the major trade route of Eastern Canada at the time. For most of its length, it defines the border between these two provinces. Béarn is a municipality in northwestern Quebec, Canada in the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality. History The place was first incorporated as the Parish Municipality of Saint-Placide in 1913, taking its name from the parish that was founded two years earlier.
