Lani Misalucha
Lani Bayot Misalucha (; born Lani Dimalanta Bayot (born August 3, 1969) is a Filipino singer. Known for her vocal range, powerful, emotive vocals and ability to sing opera arias, she has been referred to as " Asia's Nightingale". Her music has received recognition from a number of award-giving bodies such as Awit Awards, Aliw Awards, Box Office Entertainment Awards and PMPC Star Awards for Music. In 2021, she was named "People of the Year" by '' People Asia''. Misalucha began singing as a church choir member and eventually became a back-up vocalist of various bands. Katrina "Trina" Belamide is a Filipino songwriter and record producer. According to the ''Manila Times'' she has written songs for most of the Philippines' top recording artists. Career Belamide began taking piano lessons at age 8 and started writing songs at 15. In high school and college, she was active in glee clubs as both a singer and songwriter. She said that this exposed her to a wider range of music and helped her make her first contacts in the music industry. Venancio Saturno (born April 1, 1954), better known as Vehnee Saturno, is a Filipino composer, songwriter and record producer. He found success in 1982 by winning first place at the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival for the song "Isang Dakot". Early life Saturno was born in Iloilo City on April 1, 1954, to a carpenter and a housewife who struggled together with his nine siblings with poverty which inspired him to write songs. His dream was to be a journalist, but due to his family's financial situation he was not able to finish his studies. He trained at the Philippine Air Force after high school and eventually did odd jobs including working as a photocopy machine operator. The Awit Awards are music awards in the Philippines given annually by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) to recognize the outstanding achievements in the music industry. The word "Awit" means "song" literally in Filipino. The first awards were given in 1969 at a ceremony in Makati. After three awards ceremonies were held, the Awit Awards were discontinued in 1972. In 1988, PARI brought back the awards and today, the organization still handles these awards.
