Languidic
Languidic (; br, Langedig) is a commune in the Morbihan department of Brittany in north-western France. History The local church was previously associated with the cult of the Welsh saint Cenydd (Kenneth). Geography Languidic, encompassing 10,908 hectares, is the most spread-out city in Morbihan and the third in Brittany. The river Ével forms part of the commune's north-eastern border, then flows into the Blavet, which forms its northern and north-western borders. Demographics Inhabitants of Languidic are called in French ''Languidiciens''. Breton language In 2008, there was 18,1% of the children attended the bilingual schools in primary education. Cenydd
Saint Cenydd (Modern cy, Cennydd; french: Kinède; century), sometimes anglicised as Saint Kenneth, was a Christian hermit on the Gower Peninsula in Wales, where he is credited with the foundation of the church at Llangennith. In Brittany, he is chiefly associated with Languidic, but there is a chapel (Saint-Quidy) dedicated to him in Ploumelin or, with more modern spelling, Plumelin - not to be confused with Plomelin which is also in Brittany. Legend Liturgical calendars and place-name evidence suggest the historical existence of Cenydd. His legend, however, is too late and too obviously derivative to be relied upon. According to Welsh sources collected in the 15th century by John Capgrave and published in the ''Nova Legenda Angliae'', Cenydd was a Breton prince, the son of "King Dihoc" (presumably Deroch II of Domnonée) by an allegedly incestuous relationship with his own daughter. Rimpar
Rimpar is a market town in the district of Würzburg in the German state of Bavaria. It is located about 10 km (6 mi) north of the City of Würzburg. The municipality includes the villages of Gramschatz and Maidbronn, incorporated in 1978. History Rimpar was first mentioned in an 1126 deed. Hermann I von Lobdeburg, Bishop of Würzburg, established a Cistercian nunnery, Maidbronn Abbey, at neighbouring Maidbronn in 1232. The former abbey church, dedicated to Saint Afra, contains a sandstone altarpiece of the Lamentation of Christ by Tilman Riemenschneider dated to 1525, considered the last of his major works. The von Grumbach noble family had Rimpar Castle built in 1347. In 1593 Konrad von Grumbach sold Rimpar to Prince-Bishop Julius Echter of Würzburg. Blavet
The Blavet (; br, Blavezh) river flows from central Brittany and enters the Atlantic Ocean on the south coast near Lorient. It is long. The river is canalised for most of its length, forming one of the links in the Brittany canal system. It connects with the Canal de Nantes à Brest at Pontivy and runs to Hennebont, a distance of 60 km. From the last lock at Polvern, the river is tidal and considered as a maritime waterway, giving access to the seaport of Lorient and the Atlantic Ocean. It became more important when the western half of that system was cut off by the construction of the Guerlédan dam and hydropower plant. Today, boats coming from Nantes via Redon have to take the Canal du Blavet in order to reach the ocean near Lorient. The source of the Blavet is east of Bulat-Pestivien, Côtes-d'Armor. Brittany (french: Bretagne ; br, Breizh ); Gallo: ''Bertaèyn'' ) is the westernmost region of Metropolitan France. It covers about four fifths of the territory of the historic province of Brittany.
