Area codes 715 and 534 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The numbering plan area (NPA) comprises most of the northern part of the state. 715 was one of the original North American area codes created in 1947, while 534 was added in 2010 as an additional code for the same numbering plan area to form an overlay plan. Charles Michel Mouet de Langlade (9 May 1729 – after 26 July 1801)''Dictionnaire Généalogique Tanguay'' was a Great Lakes fur trader and war chief who was important in protecting French territory in North America. His mother was Ottawa and his father a French Canadian fur trader. Fluent in Ottawa and French, Langlade later led First Nations forces in warfare in the region. Given the shifting political realities of the time, he and his followers were at various times allied with the French, British and, lastly, Americans. Leading French and Indian forces, in 1752 he destroyed Pickawillany, a Miami village and British trading post in present-day Ohio, where the British and French were competing for control of the lucrative fur trade. During the subsequent Seven Years' War, he helped defend Fort Duquesne (Pittsburgh) against the British. Wolf River is a town in Langlade County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 731 at the 2010 census, down from 856 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Hollister, Langlade, and Markton and the ghost town of Van Ostrand are in the town. The village of White Lake, a separate municipality, is surrounded by the town. The township is served by the Wolf River Volunteer Fire Department. History The town of Elton was created from eastern parts of the town of Langlade on November 10, 1886. It was named for Elton Larzelere, the son of one of the area's early pioneers. The area that is today Evergreen was detached from Elton in 1896, leaving Elton with the area it occupies today.
