Langford-Highlands is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. Created under the 2021 British Columbia electoral redistribution, the riding will first be contested in the 2024 British Columbia general election. It was mostly created out of Langford-Juan de Fuca plus a small part of Esquimalt-Metchosin. Ravi Parmar
Ravi Singh Parmar (born November 15, 1994) is a Canadian politician who was elected MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca in a by-election in 2023. He succeeded former NDP premier John Horgan, who resigned from the seat. Currently, Parmar is the youngest MLA in the British Columbia Legislature. He is also the Parliamentary Secretary for International Credentials, with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. Prior to his election as MLA, Parmar served as a School District 62 Sooke Board Trustee from 2014 to 2017, before becoming Board Chair. Parmar also worked as a Ministerial Advisor and Chief of Staff to various provincial ministers, including the Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery, and Innovation and the Minister of Forests. 2021 British Columbia Electoral Redistribution
An electoral redistribution in British Columbia is underway by the BC Electoral Boundaries Commission. On October 21, 2021, the Government of British Columbia appointed Justice Nitya Iyer, Linda Tynan and Chief Electoral Officer Anton Boegman to serve as the 2021 commissioners. Justice Iyer was appointed the chair. The commission is required to complete redistricting every two election cycles. The final number of provincial electoral districts, and thus seats in the next legislature, will not be known until redistricting has occurred. The commission is required to complete its preliminary report by October 21, 2022, and its final report six months later. In May 2021, the government introduced legislation that removed a requirement that no reduction of seats could be considered for certain rural regions. Greater Victoria (also known as the Greater Victoria Region) is located in British Columbia, Canada, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It is usually defined as the thirteen municipalities of the Capital Regional District (CRD) on Vancouver Island as well as some adjacent areas and nearby islands. The 2020 British Columbia general election was held on October 24, 2020, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly to serve in the 42nd parliament of the Canadian province of British Columbia. The incumbent New Democratic Party of British Columbia (BC NDP) won a majority government, making John Horgan the first leader in the history of the BC NDP to win a second consecutive term as Premier. The District of Highlands (locally known as "the Highlands") is a district municipality near Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. As one of the Western Communities, or West Shore municipalities, outside Victoria, Highlands has a population of 2,225 as of 2016. The region stretches along the Saanich Inlet shoreline from north of Goldstream to Mackenzie Bight.
