The Landtag of Styria () is the elected body of the Austrian state of Styria. The last election of the Landtag was held in 2024. It has 48 seats. The current president of the Landtag is Manuela Khom. Austrian People's Party
The Austrian People's Party ( , ÖVP ) is a Christian-democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Austria. Since January 2025, the party has been led by Christian Stocker (as an acting leader). It is currently the second-largest party in the National Council, with 51 of the 183 seats, and won 26.3% of votes cast in the 2024 legislative election. It holds seats in all nine state legislatures, and is part of government in seven, of which it leads six. The ÖVP is a member of the International Democracy Union and the European People's Party. The Freedom Party of Austria (, FPÖ) is a political party in Austria, variously described as far-right, right-wing populist, national-conservative, and Eurosceptic. The Social Democratic Party of Austria ( , SPÖ) is a social democratic political party in Austria. The Greens – The Green Alternative (, ) is a green political party in Austria. The Greens currently sit in opposition. Formerly, they were part of the Schallenberg government, the Second Kurz government, and the Nehammer government. It won 8.2% of votes cast in the 2024 Austrian legislative election. The Communist Party of Austria (, KPÖ) is a communist party in Austria. Established in 1918 as the Communist Party of Republic of German-Austria, German-Austria (KPDÖ), it is one of the world's oldest Communist party, communist parties. 2024 Styrian State Election
The 2024 Styrian state election was held on 24 November 2024 to elect the members of the Landtag of Styria. The election resulted in heavy losses for the governing Austrian People's Party, ÖVP and moderate losses for its coalition partner, the Social Democratic Party of Austria, SPÖ. Together, they lost their majority in the state parliament (''Landtag''). Both parties also received their worst ever election results in the state of Styria.
