Landtag Of Saxony-Anhalt
The Landtag of Saxony-Anhalt is the parliament of the German federal state Saxony-Anhalt. It convenes in Magdeburg and currently consists of 97 members of six parties. The current majority is a coalition of the Social Democratic Party, Free Democratic Party and the Christian Democratic Union, supporting the cabinet of Minister-President Reiner Haseloff. Current composition After the elections of June 6, 2021, the composition of the Landtag is as follows: Elections are conducted using a proportional representation system, with a minimum of 5% vote share to receive any seats. Gunnar Schellenberger
Gunnar Schellenberger (born 12 January 1960) is a German politician for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, CDU and since 2021 president of the Landtag of Saxony-Anhalt. Life and politics Schellenberger was born in 1960 in the East German city of Karl-Marx-Stadt and became a teacher for mathematics and physics. Reiner Haseloff
Reiner Erich Haseloff (born 19 February 1954) is a German politician who serves as the Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt. On 9 October 2020, he was elected President of the Bundesrat. His one-year term started on 1 November 2020. Political career Reiner Haseloff joined the then bloc party CDU of the GDR in 1976. He has been a member of the state executive of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt since 1990 and was deputy district administrator of the Wittenberg district from 1990 to 1992. From 2004 to 2012, Haseloff was deputy state chairman of the CDU. Since December 2008 he has been a member of the CDU federal executive committee. From 2002 to 2006, Haseloff served as State Secretary at the State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour under minister Horst Rehberger in the first cabinet of Minister President Wolfgang Böhmer. The 2002 Saxony-Anhalt state election was held on 21 April 2002 to elect the members of the 4th Landtag of Saxony-Anhalt. The incumbent Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD) minority government led by List of Ministers-President of Saxony-Anhalt, Minister-President Reinhard Höppner was defeated.
