Landmarq
Landmarq (pronounced like "landmark") are a British neo-prog band. Since forming in 1990, they have so far released a total of ten albums, four of which were recorded live at various concerts in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, plus two full concert DVDs. History Initially signing to a Dutch record company, SI Music, then forming their own label, Synergy Records, the band have established themselves within the world of progressive rock, though their style may also extend into album-oriented rock, melodic rock, hard rock and even a slightly jazz edge. Vocalist Damian Wilson left the band after three albums to concentrate on his solo career and the band found a replacement in Ian 'Moon' Gould. He spent a year with the band, playing various gigs in the UK and the Netherlands, before deciding to move on. It was at this point that Landmarq decided to go for a radical change to their sound and recruited the long-time friend of the band, Tracy Hitchings, who formerly sang with Quasar. ... Tracy Hitchings
Tracy Hitchings (11 October 1962 – 10 December 2022) was an English musician and the former lead vocalist for the progressive rock band Landmarq. Her musical credits spanned from 1989 to 2022 with many notable sessions with various bands and artists, predominantly in the British neo-prog scene. Hitchings was known for her charismatic stage presence and her wide vocal range. Early years Hitchings was born in St Mawes, Cornwall, going to London at the age of 20 to pursue a career in Music. After many line-up changes, neo-prog band Quasar were auditioning for a lead vocalist. Hitchings answered the band's advert in ''Melody Maker'' and joined the band. Her first work with them was the 1989 album ''The Loreli'', to which she contributed lyrics for four of the five tracks. Hitchings toured with the band for 18 months. Damian Wilson
Damian Wilson (born 11 October 1969) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Wilson works in the progressive metal genre and was the lead singer of Headspace (band), Headspace and Threshold (band), Threshold. He sang and toured with bands and projects for Star One (band), Star One, Ayreon, Landmarq, Praying Mantis (band), Praying Mantis and with Rick Wakeman's English Rock Ensemble. As a solo artist he has released 5 solo albums, a DVD and a retrospective compilation album. 1990 – 2000 Damian began recording music in 1991 with the band Landmarq. He featured on their debut album, ''Solitary Witness'' which was released in 1992, followed by a second album, ''Infinity Parade'' (1993) and ''The Vision Pit'' (1995). Quasar (band)
Quasar is a British progressive rock band, formed in 1979 by Keith Turner. They found themselves to be amongst a movement of British bands during the early 1980s, including Marillion, Pendragon (band), Pendragon, IQ (band), IQ, Twelfth Night (band), Twelfth Night, Solstice (progressive rock band), Solstice and Pallas (band), Pallas, that continued in the progressive rock style created by 1970s bands such as Genesis (band), Genesis and Yes (band), Yes. Though Quasar has had quiet times due to leaving members and were based in San Francisco for some years, they are now based back in the UK. History In 1979, Quasar was formed when Keith Turner and Mike Kenwright began to write songs in the progressive rock style. Gonzalo Carrera
Gonzalo Carrera is a Spanish keyboard player who has performed in several progressive rock bands. He is best known as a former member of the British progressive rock bands Landmarq (2002–2005) and Karnataka (2005–2010, 2018–2022). Carrera has also previously worked with Spanish progressive rock band Galadriel and British-American progressive rock band Quasar, as well as on solo projects by former members of Hawkwind (Huw Lloyd-Langton), Jethro Tull (Clive Bunker and Glenn Cornick), Karnataka (Nick May), The Nice (David O'List), and Yes (Peter Banks). Carrera is currently recording a new album with the London fusion outfit Infusion. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog) is a broad genre of rock music that primarily developed in the United Kingdom through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early-to-mid-1970s. Initially termed " progressive pop", the style emerged from psychedelic bands who abandoned standard pop or rock traditions in favour of instrumental and compositional techniques more commonly associated with jazz, folk, or classical music, while retaining the instrumentation typical of rock music. Hugh McDowell
Hugh Alexander McDowell (31 July 1953 – 6 November 2018) was an English cellist and member of the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and related acts. Career McDowell started playing the cello at the age of four-and-a-half; by the age of 10, he had won a scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School. Only one year later he made his first professional appearance in Benjamin Britten's ''The Turn of the Screw'', in which he sang. Later he attended Kingsway College of Further Education, the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Metal Mind Productions (MMP) is a Polish record label founded in 1987. The label focuses on rock and heavy metal. MMP is also publisher of ''Metal Hammer'', the largest and the oldest heavy metal magazine. As a concert agency, it organises Metalmania, the largest heavy metal event in Central Europe, and it organised over 1000 concerts, including Monsters of Rock in Poland, 1991. Metal Mind Productions over the years became the subject of criticism from such bands as Malevolent Creation, Enter Chaos, Behemoth and Moonlight among others, for releasing unauthorized records and lack of professionalism. Susan Kay Quatro (born June 3, 1950) is an American singer, bass guitarist, songwriter, and actress. Arena (band)
Arena are an English neo-prog band founded in 1995. Their style ranges from symphonic to hard rock. History Arena was founded in 1995 by Clive Nolan keyboardist of Pendragon and Shadowland, and Mick Pointer, the original drummer of Marillion, whose tenure lasting from 1979 until 1983. The other founding members of the band were guitarist Keith More, vocalist John Carson, and bassist Cliff Orsi. Orsi was replaced by John Jowitt (of IQ) in the band's inaugural year, whilst Carson and More left the band in 1996 and 1997, and were replaced by Paul Wrightson and John Mitchell (of Frost*) respectively. Both Jowitt and Wrightson left the band in 1998, to be replaced by Ian Salmon and Rob Sowden, creating the band's most stable lineup to date (from 1998 until 2010). Pendragon (band)
Pendragon are an English neo-prog band established in 1978 in Stroud, Gloucestershire as Zeus Pendragon by guitarist and vocalist Nick Barrett. The word ''Zeus'' was dropped before the band started recording, as the members decided it was too long to look good on a T-shirt. There were a few personnel changes in the early days, but since 1986 the lineup has remained relatively stable (with only the drummer changing several times since then) and the band are still active as of 2025. IQ are a British neo-prog band founded by Mike Holmes and Martin Orford in 1981Official IQ site. Band formed in 1981. following the dissolution of their original band The Lens. Although the band have never enjoyed major commercial success and had several lineup changes, IQ have built up a loyal following over the years and are still active as of 2025, currently with the original recording line-up (with the exception of Orford).
