Lance Gunn
Lance Cameron Gunn (born January 9, 1970) is an American former professional football defensive back who played in the National Football League (NFL) and NFL Europe. Early life Gunn grew up in an east suburb of Houston, Texas. He attended North Shore High School in Cloverleaf, Texas, and played high school football there. College career Gunn played college football at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. He red-shirted his freshman year in 1988, then played three seasons for head coach David McWilliams (1989–91), and his senior season (1992) for head coach John Mackovic. His sophomore season in 1990, Texas won the Southwest Conference and finished the regular season ranked No. 3. Gunn was a three-time All-SWC selection (1989–91) and named an All-American safety in 1992. College stats include 298 tackles (188 solo) and six QB sacks. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. NFL Europe
NFL Europe League (simply called NFL Europe and known in its final season as NFL Europa) was a professional American football league that functioned as the List of developmental and minor sports leagues, developmental minor league of the National Football League (NFL). Indoor Professional Football League
The Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) was the new incarnation of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL), which started in 1998. Two of its teams (the Madison Mad Dogs and the Green Bay Bombers) left the league and their owner, Kerry Ecklund, founded the Indoor Football League in 1999. The IPFL led a troubled three-year existence, and died after its 2001 season, with its most successful teams joining up with the National Indoor Football League. The IPFL was unique among indoor football leagues in that it sanctioned the use of a white football, manufactured by Rawlings, which was easier to see in the artificial lighting conditions. Texas Terminators
The Texas Terminators was an indoor football team that played in the Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) in 1999. The Terminators franchise was owned by Jeff Parnell. The team office was based in Austin, and played their games in the Travis County Expo Center, known as "The Barn" for Terminators games. The team colors were: Purple, Teal, Black, Grey & White. On September 1, 1998, Texas announced Duane Duncum as its head coach for the Terminators' inaugural season. Duncum's resume included four years of professional football experience: Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL), 1991; Orlando Thunder ( WLAF), 1992; San Antonio Force (AFL), 1993; and Dallas Texans (AFL), 1994. World Bowl '96 (also referred to as World Bowl IV) was the fourth championship game of the NFL Europe, World League of American Football (WLAF). It took place at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland on Sunday, June 23, 1996. The 7–3 Scottish Claymores defeated the 7–3 Frankfurt Galaxy (NFL Europe), Frankfurt Galaxy (the defending champions) 32–27 and, led by head coach Jim Criner, completed the league's first ever worst to first turnaround. John Mackovic
John Mackovic (born October 1, 1943) is an American football coach. He was most recently the head coach of the Italy national American football team from 2014-2023, which was formed to compete in the EFAF European Championship. Previously, Mackovic served as the head football coach at Wake Forest University (1978–1980), the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (1988–1991), the University of Texas at Austin (1992–1997), and the University of Arizona (2001–2003), compiling a career college football record of 95–82–3. He served as the head coach at Texas Tech University in 1986 and at the University of Texas at Austin from 1987 to 1991, compiling a career college football record of 38–30.
