Lance Cryderman
Lance Cryderman (born November 17, 1980) is a Canadian boccia player. Early life Cryderman was born November 17, 1980, and is from Greater Sudbury, Ontario. He attended Lockerby Composite School. He has an undergraduate degree in psychology and a master's degree in business administration from Laurentian University. Career Cryderman started playing boccia at the age of 12 when he joined the Sudbury Shooting Stars, a boccia club. He is a member of the BC1 class. Cryderman participated at the 2000 Summer Paralympics, but was knocked in group play. Following the 2000 Paralympics, he retired from the sport in 2001 to finish his master's degree. He returned to boccia in 2017 after watching a webcast of the Canadian Boccia Championships. He went on to earn silver medals at the 2018, 2019, and 2021 championships. Boccia ( ) is a precision ball sport, similar to bocce, and related to bowls and pétanque. The name "boccia" is derived from the Latin word for "boss" – '. The sport is contested at local, national and international levels, by athletes with severe physical disabilities. It was originally designed to be played by people with cerebral palsy but now includes athletes with other severe disabilities affecting motor skills. In 1984, it became a Paralympic sport and as of 2020, 75 boccia national organizations have joined one or more of the international organizations. Boccia is governed by the Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed) and is one of two Paralympic sports (along with goalball) that have no counterpart in the Olympic program, although it is a Paralympic variant of bocce (boules). Val Caron
Valley East (Vallée-Est in French) is a district of the city of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. First incorporated in 1973 as a separate town within the Regional Municipality of Sudbury, Valley East was so named because it comprised the eastern half of the Sudbury Basin. The largest of the six towns in the Regional Municipality, it was reincorporated as a city in 1997 due to continued population growth. On January 1, 2001, the city and the Regional Municipality were dissolved and amalgamated into the city of Greater Sudbury. Before the amalgamation, Valley East was Northern Ontario's sixth-largest city, ranking after Timmins and before Kenora.
