Lancashire Thunder
Lancashire Thunder is an English women's Twenty20 cricket team based in Manchester, Lancashire that competed in England's women's Twenty20 competition, the Women's Cricket Super League. Thunder played their home matches at Old Trafford and various grounds across the North West. They were captained by Kate Cross and coached by Mark McInnes, working with General Manager Bobby Cross. In 2020, following reforms to the structure of women's domestic cricket, some elements of Lancashire Thunder were retained for a new team, North West Thunder. History 2016-2019: Women's Cricket Super League Lancashire Thunder were formed in 2016 to compete in the new Women's Cricket Super League, partnering with Lancashire CCC. In their inaugural season, they finished bottom of the group stage, winning just one game. Georgie Boyce
Georgie Eva Burton Boyce (born 4 October 1998) is an English cricketer who currently plays for The Blaze. She plays as a right-handed batter. She has previously played for Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, Lancashire Thunder, North West Thunder and Manchester Originals. Early life Boyce was born on 4 October 1998 in Nottingham. Domestic career Boyce made her county debut in 2013, for Nottinghamshire against Staffordshire. She did not bat or bowl. She played three matches that season before becoming more of a regular in the next, and she hit her maiden half-century in 2014, scoring 50 * in a successful chase against Yorkshire. Kate Cross
Kathryn Laura Cross (born 3 October 1991) is an English international cricketer. She also co-hosts a podcast with Alex Hartley named "No Balls: The Cricket Podcast". Career Cross has played domestic cricket for a number of teams including Lancashire, North West Thunder, Northern Superchargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore. A right-arm medium fast bowler and right-handed batter, she was the first woman to be accepted into Lancashire's cricket academy in 2006 and won the Eversheds Most Promising Young Cricketer award in September 2007. Evelyn Jones (born 8 August 1992) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Lancashire and Manchester Originals. She plays primarily as a left-handed opening batter, as well as bowling left-arm medium. Trafalgar Road Ground
Trafalgar Road Ground is a cricket ground in the Birkdale area of Southport, Merseyside, England. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1956, when the Lancashire Second XI played Cheshire in the Minor Counties Championship. In 1959, the ground held its first first-class match when Lancashire played Worcestershire in the County Championship. From 1959 to 2017, the ground played host to 44 first-class matches, the last of which came in the 2017 County Championship between Lancashire and Middlesex. In 2024 the ground hosted LCCC v Nottinghamshire CCC, starting on Sunday 30 June, with the ground being sold out on the Sunday as part of County Cricket Day, an initiative to increase attendance and interest in the County Championship. 2019 Women's Cricket Super League
The 2019 Women's Cricket Super League, or 2019 Kia Super League for sponsorship reasons, was the fourth and final season of the Women's Cricket Super League (WCSL), the semi-professional women's cricket competition in England and Wales. The competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), consisted of six franchise teams playing in a Twenty20 format. The tournament was scheduled to be replaced by the Women's Hundred and a new regional domestic structure from the next season, although the full implementation of this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sophie Ecclestone (born 6 May 1999) is an English cricketer who plays for Lancashire Women cricket team, Lancashire, North West Thunder, Manchester Originals, UP Warriorz and England women's cricket team, England.
