Lamurde Hot Spring, also known as Ruwan Zafi, is one of the tourist centres in Nigeria. It is located in Lamurde about 103 km from Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, Adamawa state, Northeastern Nigeria Overview The Lamurde hot spring which the natives call ‘Ruwan Zafi’ means ‘Hot water’. It is above 50C at its hottest spot. From far sight, it looks like any other spring till you dip your legs into it. This hot spring is part of the world's popular Sukur Cultural Landscape, which consists of a palace, villages, and the remains of an iron industry. The place was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999 and has since become one of the top tourist destinations in Nigeria. Lamurde is a town and Local Government Areas of Nigeria, Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Nigeria inhabited predominantly by the Bwatiye people, Bwatiye (Bachama) people. History The Lamurde Local Government was established on December 14, 1990, from the local government of Numan. Numerous local government areas in the state shares borders with it, including Taraba State, Taraba state to the west, Guyuk and Shelleng local government areas to the east, Gombe State, Gombe State to the north, and Numan local government to the south. The local government area is 2098 square kilometers in size, and it is located roughly between Latitude, latitudes 10 24" west and 12 45" east, as well as 90 39" north and 90 11" south.
