Lalrinpuii
Lalrinpuii (born 5 March 1962) is an Indian politician in the state of Mizoram. She is a member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly from Lunglei East constituency of Lunglei district. She is the first woman to become a minister of Mizoram with cabinet rank on 8 December 2024 when she took oath as the Minister for health, social welfare and tribal affairs, women and child development, and tourism portfolios. Early life and education Lalrinpuii was born in Lunglei, Mizoram. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 2002 at a college affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. She married Sapthanga Khawlhring and together they have three children. She runs hostels for students of North East studying in Bengaluru. Career Before Lalrinpuii became a minister, Lalhlimpuii Hmar in 1987 and Vanlalawmpuii Chawngthu in 2017 were her two predecessors who held the rank of ministers of state. 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Mizoram on 7 November 2023 to elect all 40 members of Mizoram Legislative Assembly, which had 174 candidates and saw 80.66% voter turnout. The votes were counted on 4 December 2023 which showed the Zoram People's Movement's victory winning 27 seats out of 40. Background The tenure of Mizoram Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 17 December 2023. The previous assembly elections were held in November 2018. After the election, Mizo National Front formed the state government, with Zoramthanga becoming Chief Minister. Lalduhoma Ministry
The Lalduhoma ministry represents the formation of the cabinet of the Indian state Mizoram under the leadership of Lalduhoma, who is elected as the second Chief Minister of Mizoram. The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), led by Lalduhoma, secured an absolute majority in the 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election, winning 27 out of the 40 seats in the state assembly. Lalduhoma assumed the office of Chief Minister of Mizoram in a swearing-in ceremony held at Rajbhawan, Mizoram on 8 December 2023.
