Lallubhai Samaldas
Sir Lallubhai Samaldas Mehta (14 October 1863 – 14 October 1936) was a wealthy aristocrat and advisor in the court of the Maharaja of Bhavnagar in Gujarat. He was involved in the establishment of numerous industries in western India, particularly in the shipping industry. He also took an interest in the cooperative movement and presided over the Swadeshi League. The Samaldas Arts College, Samaldas College in Bhavnagar was established by Maharaja of Bhavnagar in his father's memory. He also took an interest in national politics and was associated with the leaders of the time. Life and work Lallubhai was born in Bhavnagar State, Bhavnagar, Saurashtra. His father Samaldas was a Chief Justice and Dewan in the kingdom of Bhavnagar, a position that was also held by his grandfather Parmananddas from 1828 to 1877. Samaldas Arts College
Samaldas Arts College or Samaldas College is a college in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. It was founded in 1885 by Takhtsinhji, the Maharaja of Bhavnagar State in memory of his Diwan (minister) Samaldas Paramananddas Mehta. It is one of the oldest colleges in western India. It is affiliated to Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. Bhavnagar State
Bhavnagar State was a princely state with 13 Gun Salutes during the British Raj. It was part of Kathiawar Agency in Saurashtra. The State of Bhavnagar covered an area of 2,961 sq. miles and had a population of 618,429 in 1941. Its ruler signed the accession to the Indian Union on 15 February 1948. Elphinstone College
Elphinstone College is one of the constituent colleges of Dr. Homi Bhabha State University, a state cluster university. Established in 1823, it is one of the oldest colleges in Mumbai. It played a major role in shaping and developing the educational landscape of the city. It also played a pivotal role in the inception of the University of Mumbai. Bholanath Sarabhai Divetia (1822 – 11 May 1886) was Gujarati poet and religious reformer from India. Biography He was born in a Nagar Brahmin family from Ahmedabad. He studied law and served as a government servant during British rule in India. He was elevated to the post of first class sub-judge. He retired in 1874 and was awarded the ''Rai Bahadur'' title by the British. He was born in an orthodox religious family and believed in idol worship but adopted belief in a formless god. He founded Prarthna Samaj and Dharma Sabha for religious reform. He was the father of Gujarati author Narsinhrao Divetia. The Scindia dynasty (anglicized from Shinde) is a Hindu Maratha dynasty of maratha origin that ruled the erstwhile State of Gwalior. It had the Patil-ship of Kumberkerrab in Wai. It was founded by Ranoji Scindia, who started as a personal servant of the Peshwa Bajirao I.
