Lakuna
Lakuna was an electronic instrumental project begun by drummer David Narcizo after Throwing Muses first split up following their 1996 ''Limbo'' album. Lakuna first released a 12-inch called ''So Happy'' and then a 1999 full-length album called ''Castle of Crime.'' Review of ''Castle of Crime'' Narcizo provided drums, drum programming, and keyboards on all the tracks. The album's guest musicians included Bernard Georges on bass, Kristin Hersh on guitar loops, Belly's Tom Gorman on bass, Melissa "Misi" Narcizo on piano and keyboards, and Frank Gardner on bass and bass synthesizer. Narcizo employed tape loops and samples from obscure, vintage music to achieve the album's ambient-styled instrumental sounds. Lakuna recorded on the 4AD 4AD is a British record label owned by Beggars Group. David Narcizo
David John Narcizo (born May 6, 1966, in Newport, Rhode Island) is an American musician and graphic designer, primarily known for his work as the longtime drummer for Throwing Muses. Career Narcizo played drums on Tanya Donelly's '' Lovesongs for Underdogs'', ''Sleepwalk'', '' Beautysleep'', and '' Whiskey Tango Ghosts'' solo recordings, also performing some of the drum programming on Kristin Hersh's ''Sky Motel'' solo album. After the first dissolution of Throwing Muses following the group's 1996 ''Limbo'' album, Narcizo started an electronic instrumental project called Lakuna, including the participation of wife Melissa "Misi" Narcizo, Bernard Georges, Belly's Tom Gorman, Kristin Hersh, and Frank Gardner. Throwing Muses
Throwing Muses are an American alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Newport, Rhode Island, United States, that toured and recorded extensively until 1997, when its members began concentrating more on other projects. The group was originally fronted by two stepsisters, Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly, who both wrote the group's songs. Throwing Muses are known for performing music with shifting tempos, creative chord progressions, unorthodox song structures, and surreal lyrics. Bernard Georges
Bernard Georges (born March 29, 1965) is best known for his bass guitar work in Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave. Beginning in 1992, he played bass for Throwing Muses on their album releases and in their concert appearances, having previously worked as roadie for the group. Kristin Hersh
Martha Kristin Hersh (born August 7, 1966) is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter known for her solo work and with her rock bands Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave, 50FootWave. She has released eleven solo albums. Her guitar work and composition style ranges from jaggedly dissonant to traditional folk. Hersh's lyrics have a Stream of consciousness, stream-of-consciousness style, reflecting her personal experiences. Early life Hersh was born in Atlanta. She moved to Newport, Rhode Island with her family, when she was six years old. Her father was a professor at Salve Regina University and her mother was a special educational needs teacher. Kristin was interested in music at an early age; her father gave her a guitar when she was nine. Belly (band)
Belly is an alternative rock band formed in Rhode Island in 1991 by Tanya Donelly. The original lineup consisted of Donelly on vocals and guitar, Fred Abong on bass, and brothers Tom and Chris Gorman on guitar and drums respectively. The band released two albums during the early 1990s alternative rock boom before breaking up in 1995. They reunited in 2016 and mounted limited tours in the United States and United Kingdom that year. In 1993, their debut album ''Star'' was released, and its lead single " Feed the Tree" would be Belly's biggest hit song, peaking at number one on ''Billboard's'' Modern Rock Tracks chart and number 95 on the Hot 100. Tape Loops
In music, tape loops are loops of magnetic tape used to create repetitive, rhythmic musical patterns or dense layers of sound when played on a tape recorder. In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, or sound effects.
