Lake Saint-Louis
Lake Saint-Louis (, ) is a lake in southwestern Quebec, Canada, at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa rivers. The Saint Lawrence Seaway passes through the lake. Lake St. Louis is a widening of the St. Lawrence River in the Hochelaga Archipelago. It is also fed by the Ottawa River via the Lake of Two Mountains at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the Beauharnois Canal, the Soulanges Canal, the Saint-Louis River, and the Châteauguay River. The lake is bounded to the north and the east by the Island of Montreal, by Beauharnois-Salaberry, Roussillon, and Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The town of Beauharnois with its power-dam and canal lie to the south. The West Island shore is mostly built up with private houses, but it includes some parks and clubs such as the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club, and the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club. Île Perrot () is an island west of the island of Montreal in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Quebec. Charles-Honoré Laverdière
Charles-Honoré Cauchon ''dit'' Laverdière (23 October 1826 – 10 March 1873) was a French-Canadian priest and historian. Biography Laverdière was born in Château-Richer, East of Quebec City, on 23 October 1826. His parents, Charles Cauchon, ''dit'' Laverdière (Laverdière never used Cauchon as his family name) and Théotiste Cauchon, were farmers. He studied at the Séminaire de Québec from 1840 onward, and proved brilliant, being promoted to assistant professor of physics and collaborating to the foundation of the student newspaper, through which he published several collections of canticles. He was ordained in 1851. Laverdière never did any parish duty, and would dedicate his life to teaching and scholarly work. The yellow perch (''Perca flavescens''), commonly referred to as perch, striped perch, American perch or preacher is a freshwater perciform fish native to much of North America. The yellow perch was described in 1814 by Samuel Latham Mitchill from New York. It is closely related, and morphologically similar to the European perch (''Perca fluviatilis''); and is sometimes considered a subspecies of its European counterpart. Latitudinal variability in age, growth rates, and size have been observed among populations of yellow perch, likely resulting from differences in day length and annual water temperatures. Lake Saint Pierre
Lake Saint Pierre (, ; ) is a lake in Quebec, Canada, a widening of the Saint Lawrence River between Sorel-Tracy and Trois-Rivières. It is located downstream, and northeast, of Montreal; and upstream, and southwest, of Quebec City. The end of the lake delimits the beginning of the estuary of Saint Lawrence. This lake which is long (excluding Sorel Islands) and wide, is part of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Including its shoreline, islands, and wetlands, the lake is a nature reserve. The body of water is recognized as a Ramsar site and as a Biosphere Reserve, due to the presence of many marshes and wetlands that are frequented by waterfowl. Lake Saint Francis (, ) is a lake which borders southeastern Ontario, southwestern Quebec and northern New York State. It is located on the Saint Lawrence River between Lake Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. The lake forms part of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Dowker Island
Dowker Island is an uninhabited island in Lake Saint Louis, a widening of the Saint Lawrence River south of Montreal Island, Quebec. It is in the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot which intends to preserve its natural state. The island is about a kilometre in length and breadth. Its surface geology is undifferentiated till deposits. It is low-lying, mostly in a 100-year flood area, and contains a muskrat habitat. Pointe-Claire Yacht Club
The Pointe-Claire Yacht Club is a yacht club in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada. It is on the shore of Lac Saint-Louis, a widening of the St. Lawrence River on the southern shore of the Island of Montreal. The club promotes racing and hosts regattas run by the provincial organization, Voile Québec. The club has slips for about 150 boats and dry dock for dozens of others. A municipal lightning detector and alarm is nearby. Racing programs use Lasers, Optimists, and 420s. With the motto "sailing is freedom", the Association Québecoise de voile adaptée operates a sailing program for people with mobility impairments, hosted at the PCYC site.
