Lake Onalaska is a reservoir located on the Black River and Mississippi River between Wisconsin, and Minnesota. It is approximately across, and is the widest point on the Mississippi River. Onalaska ( ) is a city in La Crosse County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 18,803 at the 2020 census. It borders the larger La Crosse, Wisconsin, and is a part of the La Crosse-Onalaska, WI-MN Metropolitan Area. Onalaska is built on a slightly elevated ridge above the Black River. Natural areas include both river bottom land and high, heavily wooded, scenic Hill, bluffs. A man-made reservoir at the city's western edge is known as Lake Onalaska. Onalaska ( ) is a town in La Crosse County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,623 at the 2010 census. The City of Onalaska borders the town, as does the village of Holmen. The CDP of Brice Prairie is located in the western part of the Town of Onalaska. The unincorporated community of Midway is also located in the town. The ''La Crosse Tribune'' is a daily newspaper published in La Crosse, Wisconsin, covering the tri-state area of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota in the United States. The paper was first founded in 1904, following a media scandal in which existing publications failed to report on the recent creation of a power monopoly in La Crosse. Today, the paper is owned by Lee Enterprises and is part of the River Valley Media Group. History The first newspaper in La Crosse, ''Spirit of the Times'', was founded in 1852 by A.D. La Due. Richland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 124,936. Its county seat is Mansfield. The county was created in 1808 and later organized in 1813. It is named for the fertile soil found there.
