Lake McKenzie
Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) is a perched lake on K'gari or Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia. The lake is located in the Great Sandy National Park. The lake is located 6.2 km southeast of Kingfisher Resort. It is 1,200 metres long and up to 930 metres wide. It is approximately in area. The sands around the lake are composed of pure, white silica and the water in the lake is also so pure it is unsuitable for many species. Facilities for visitors around the lake include picnic areas as well as toilets. History In March 1944 a training camp, the second on the island during World War II, was established at the lake. It was closed late the same year. The lake served as the location of the final Roadblock and the Finish Line of the reality competition series ''The Amazing Race Australia 2''. Fraser Island
K'gari ( , ), also known by its former name Fraser Island, is a World Heritage-listed sand island along the south-eastern coast in the Wide Bay–Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The island lies approximately north of the state capital, Brisbane, and is within the Fraser Coast Region local council area. The world heritage listing includes the island, its surrounding waters and parts of the nearby mainland which make up the Great Sandy National Park. In the , the island had a population of 152. Up to 500,000 people visit the island each year. The island is part of the traditional lands of the Butchulla people, under the traditional name of "K'gari". European settlers who arrived in 1847 named the island "Fraser Island" after Captain James Fraser, master of ''Stirling Castle'', who was shipwrecked and died on the island in early August 1836. Perched Lake
The water table is the upper surface of the phreatic zone or zone of saturation. The zone of saturation is where the pores and fractures of the ground are saturated with groundwater, which may be fresh, saline, or brackish, depending on the locality. It can also be simply explained as the depth below which the ground is saturated. The portion above the water table is the vadose zone. Great Sandy National Park is a coastal national park in the Fraser Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. The ''Fraser Coast Chronicle'' is an online newspaper serving the Fraser Coast area in Queensland, Australia. It was started as the Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser. History Charles Hardie Buzacott first published the ''Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser'' in Maryborough as a four-page tabloid, in his slab hut in Lennox Street in November 1860. It sold for sixpence and was read from Gayndah in the west and Childers in the north to Gympie in the south. In 1863, Buzacott sold his interests to William Swain Roberts and Joseph Robinson, who set out to "reflect the community's wants and opinions while boldly and distinctly enunciating our own views".
