Lake Louisa (Quebec)
Lake Louisa () is a lake located in the Argenteuil region of Quebec Quebec is Canada's List of Canadian provinces and territories by area, largest province by area. Located in Central Canada, the province shares borders with the provinces of Ontario to the west, Newfoundland and Labrador to the northeast, ..., Canada, mostly in the Township of Wentworth. However, the southwestern part of the lake is located in the Les Pays-d'en-Haut region of Quebec. The lake is home to ten islands including one very small island nicknamed "Peanut Island". Other islands include Young's & Griffith's Island, Burnt Island, MacBurny's Island, Gagne's Island, Johnson's Island, Hope's Island and Twin Islands. The lake is approximately 5.1 kilometres long and 2.3 kilometres wide, with a perimeter of 16.9 kilometres, and holds 73.2 million cubic meters of water. Argenteuil County, Quebec
Argenteuil County (, ) is an historic county in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It was located on the Ottawa River between Gatineau and Montreal. The county seat was Lachute. Argenteuil was bounded on the north by Terrebonne County, on the east by Deux-Montagnes County, on the west by Papineau County and on the south by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell in Ontario. In the early 1980s, Quebec's counties were abolished; as a result, most of Argenteuil County became the Argenteuil Regional County Municipality. Wentworth, Quebec
Wentworth is a township municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Argenteuil Regional County Municipality, north-west of Lachute. Its population centres are Louisa and Dunany. Geography The township is in the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains, not exceeding above sea level, with a rocky, sandy, gravelly soil that is not conducive to agriculture. However, much of the land was cleared by early Irish settlers for farming and there remains small pockets of pastures along the Dalesville River, especially in the Glen and around the town centre.
