Lake Dobczyce
Lake Dobczyce () is an artificial lake, built in 1985 - 1987. It is located in southern Poland (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), thirty kilometers south of Kraków. The lake, which lies between the Island Beskids, and the Wieliczka Foothills, was built to regulate the Raba river between the towns of Dobczyce and Myślenice. The Raba river dam has the length of 617 meters, and the height of 30 meters. The decision to build the dam and the lake was taken in 1970. In the following years, 70 hectares of forest were cut down, and villages, schools, plants and cemeteries were moved from the valley. With the completion of the dam and the lake, the problem of frequent flooding of the Raba valley was solved. Lake Dobczyce provides water for the city of Kraków, it also has a hydroelectric power plant. Lesser Poland Voivodeship
Lesser Poland Voivodeship ( ) is a voivodeships of Poland, voivodeship in southern Poland. It has an area of , and a population of 3,404,863 (2019). Its capital and largest city is Kraków. The Raba is a river in the south of Poland (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), and a right-bank tributary of Vistula River. Its source is in the Beskids, between the towns of Rabka-Zdrój and Nowy Targ. Island Beskids
The Island Beskids (in Polish language, Polish, ''Beskid Wyspowy'') is a mountain range in southern Poland, part of the Western Beskids of the Outer Western Carpathians, with significant natural resources, folk culture, medieval history, and developing resources for tourism. The distinctive feature of this region is its isolated, individual peaks, from which derives its name. The highest peak is Mogielica (1170 meters). Wieliczka (German: ''Groß Salze'', Latin: ''Magnum Sal'') is a historic town in southern Poland, situated within the Kraków metropolitan area in Lesser Poland Voivodeship since 1999. Dobczyce
Dobczyce is a town in southern Poland, situated since 1999 in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship (previously in Kraków Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998). As of December 2021, the town has a population of 6,388. There is a large dam with Lake Dobczyce on the Raba river, and a partially rebuilt 14th-century Dobczyce Castle, with ruins of a 14th-century defensive wall - which is open for tourists. Dobczyce is also the name of a small part of Bobrowniki Małe, a village in Lesser Poland. Dobczyce received its Magdeburg rights town charter probably in 1310, during the reign of Władysław Łokietek. The town was famous for its castle, where Jan Długosz liked to stay and work on his chronicles. Myślenice
Myślenice is a town in southern Poland situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, 30 km south of Kraków. The town is divided into six districts. The most popular of them, Zarabie, is a famous tourist destination. It is located behind the Raba (Vistula), Raba river (Zarabie meaning "Beyond the (River) Raba"), next to Chełm district on the slope of the hill of the same name, where is a view tower and a landscape park and ski lifts. Myślenice is a city located in the tectonic window area, between the Dalin, Chełm and Uklejna hills.
