Lakas Ng Bayan
Lakas ng Bayan ( or People Power), abbreviated as Laban, was an electoral alliance, later a political party, in the Philippines formed by Senator Ninoy Aquino for the 1978 Interim Batasang Pambansa regional elections. The party had 21 candidates for the Metro Manila area, all of whom lost, including Ninoy. The party's acronym (Laban) is a Filipino word meaning "fight". After Aquino's exile to the United States, the party was managed by his brother-in-law, Peping Cojuangco. By 1984, the party had formed a coalition with the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino of Nene Pimentel, himself a Laban party member. By 1986, the two parties were completely merged to form the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan party or PDP–Laban. Lakas Ng Bansa
The Lakas ng Bansa (LnB; ) was a defunct conservative liberal political party in the Philippines established in 1986, and folded until 1988 when merged with the Cojuangco faction of PDP–Laban to form Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP). History In 1986, after the snap elections which made Corazon Aquino swept in power, House Speaker Ramon Mitra and some members of United Nationalist Democratic Organization (UNIDO) created a pro-Aquino party which supports the president, regardless of previous party affiliation. Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP; ) is a political party in the Philippines founded by Ramon Mitra Jr. and Peping Cojuangco. LDP was more commonly referred to as Laban during its early years. History Early years and formation In September 1988, Peping Cojuangco, a stalwart of PDP–Laban, recruited national and local politicians allied with former President Ferdinand Marcos and Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) into the party. Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats, abbreviated as Lakas–CMD and also known simply as Lakas, (and known as Lakas–Kampi until 2011) is a political party in the Philippines. Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (), abbreviated as Lakas–CMD and popularly known as Lakas, was a political party in the Philippines. Its ideology and that of its successor is heavily influenced by Christian and Islamic democracy. The party's influence on Philippine society is very strong, especially after the People Power Revolution, which has led the country to elect two presidents from the party, namely Fidel V. Ramos, a United Methodist, and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, a Roman Catholic. The Lakas–Laban Coalition was the multi-party electoral alliance supported by the administration of President Fidel V. Ramos for the 1995 Philippine midterm legislative and local elections. It was a coalition of two major parties in the Philippines, the Lakas–NUCD–UMDP of President Ramos, and the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP, then known as Laban) led by Senate President Edgardo "Ed" Angara.
