Lai Meng Chong
Lai Meng Chong (; born 3 September 1951) is a Malaysian politician of Chinese descent from the town of Machap Baru in Malacca state. He is a member of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a major component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and holds the position of vice-chairman in the MCA's Alor Gajah division. Lai is also the political secretary to the Malaysian Minister of Human Resources, MCA vice-president and MP for Alor Gajah, Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn. He was nominated as the BN's candidate in the 2007 Machap by-election. Lai () is a common Chinese surname that is pronounced similarly in both Mandarin and Hakka dialects. The meaning of the character used in the Lai (賴) surname is "depend on; trust in; rely on". It is also a Hokkien (Southern Fujian)/ Minnan (Southern Min) surname that is romanized as Lua, Nai or Nua. The People's Welfare Party or ''Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air'' (KITA) is a small political party in Malaysia, based in the state of Kelantan. History Founded as AKIM (1995) The party was formerly known as the Malaysian People Justice Front or Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia when it was founded on 16 February 1995. General elections were held in Malaysia on Sunday, 5 May 2013. Voting took place in all 222 parliamentary constituencies, each electing one MP to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 505 state constituencies in 12 of the 13 states (excluding Sarawak) on the same day. The elections were the first since Najib Razak became Prime Minister in 2009. The unofficial opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition led by Anwar Ibrahim received a majority of the vote, with its three member parties collectively receiving 50.9% of the vote. Democratic Action Party (Malaysia)
The Democratic Action Party (DAP; ) is a social democratic and secular political party in Malaysia, sitting on the centre-left of the political spectrum. Liou Chen Kuang is a Malaysian politician and businessman of Chinese descent from Machap Baru in Malacca state. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and was the party's losing candidate for the Malacca State Legislative Assembly seat of Machap in the 2004 general elections.
