Ladislav Jakl
Ladislav Jakl (born December 17, 1959) is a Czech musician and journalist who served as the Secretary for political affairs under President Václav Klaus. He also ran for the presidency in the 2013 presidential election as a candidate of Party of Free Citizens but he was not able to gather the required number of signatures. Personal life He studied journalism at Charles University. He worked in different positions until 1989. He worked as journalist for Lidové noviny after 1989. State Security had a file on him a possible collaborator. He refused to collaborate according to his words. Jakl was married to Dana Jaklová from 1984 to 1999 when the couple divorced. Political career Jakl was member of parliament from 1990 to 1991. He was elected as a candidate of Civic Forum. He became collaborator of Václav Klaus in 1997. Cheb
Cheb (; german: Eger) is a town in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 30,000 inhabitants. It lies on the river Ohře. Before the 1945 expulsion of the German-speaking population, the town was the centre of the German-speaking region known as Egerland, part of the Northern Austro-Bavarian dialect area. Civic Forum
The Civic Forum ( Czech: ''Občanské fórum'', OF) was a political movement in the Czech part of Czechoslovakia, established during the Velvet Revolution in 1989. The corresponding movement in Slovakia was called Public Against Violence ( Slovak: ''Verejnosť proti násiliu'' - VPN). The Civic Forum's purpose was to unify the dissident forces in Czechoslovakia and to overthrow the Communist regime. In this, they succeeded when the Communists gave up power in November 1989 after only 10 days of protests. Playwright Václav Havel, its leader and founder, was elected president on December 29, 1989. Although the Forum did not have a clear political strategy beyond the June 1990 elections, it campaigned successfully in March and April 1990 during the first free elections in Czechoslovakia since 1946. Party of Free Citizens presidential primaries, 2012 were held for 2013 Czech presidential election from 7 to 14 June 2012. Ladislav Jakl was the only candidate. His nomination was considered almost certain. Jakl's candidature was supported by Václav Klaus. The Parliament of the Czech Republic failed to elect a candidate on the first two ballots on the 15 and 24 January. State Security ( cs, Státní bezpečnost, sk, Štátna bezpečnosť) or StB / ŠtB, was the secret police force in communist Czechoslovakia from 1945 to its dissolution in 1990. Serving as an intelligence and counter-intelligence agency, it dealt with any activity that was considered opposition to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the state. History From its establishment on June 30, 1945, the StB was controlled by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. The Party used the StB as an instrument of power and repression; State Security spied on and intimidated political opponents of the Party and forged false criminal evidence against them, facilitating the communists' rise to power in 1948.
