Lackey Field
Red Lackey Field was a baseball and athletics field at Appalachian State University. The field was renamed Red Lackey Field in 1987 and originally in the current location of Durham Park and Holmes Convocation Center. Pictures of Lackey Field date back to the early 1950s. Red Lackey Field was named for E. G. Lackey, who graduated from Appalachian State in 1937, and served on the Board of Trustees for eighteen years. Red Lackey Field, April 28, 1954
Red is the color at the long wavelength end of the visible spectrum of light, next to orange and opposite violet. It has a dominant wavelength of approximately 625–740 nanometres. Appalachian State University (; Appalachian, App State, App, or ASU) is a public university in Boone, North Carolina. It was founded as a teachers college in 1899 by brothers B. B. and D. D. Dougherty and the latter's wife, Lillie Shull Dougherty. The university expanded to include other programs in 1967 and joined the University of North Carolina System in 1971. ''George M!'' is a Broadway musical based on the life of George M. Cohan, the biggest Broadway star of his day who was known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway." The book for the musical was written by Michael Stewart, John Pascal, and Francine Pascal. Music and lyrics were by George M. Beaver Field At Jim And Bettie Smith Stadium
Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium is a baseball stadium in Boone, North Carolina, that is home to the Appalachian State baseball program. Prior to using Beaver Field, the Mountaineers used Lackey Field. The stadium was dedicated on April 10, 2007, with the Mountaineers claiming a 6–1 victory over Gardner-Webb. Appalachian selected AstroTurf as the playing surface for the new stadium, joining a select group of NCAA Division I and MLB programs to use the mix of silica sand and cryogenic rubber to emulate natural grass. The stadium has been mentioned in national publications for its beauty, especially during the fall season.
