Lachlan Walmsley (born 12 June 1998) is a Scotland international rugby league footballer who plays as a er and for Wakefield Trinity in the Super League. He previously played for Halifax in the 2022 RFL Championship and Whitehaven in League 1. Background Walmsley was born in Merriwa, New South Wales, Australia. He is of Scottish descent. Playing career Club career He came through the youth system at the Newcastle Knights and reserve grade for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, and played for New South Wales under 18s in the State of Origin at youth level. Whitehaven RLFC Walmsley was the top point scorer for Whitehaven in their 2021 season. Merriwa, New South Wales
Merriwa is a town located in the Upper Hunter Shire, in the far west of the Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is located on the Golden Highway, northwest of Sydney and about halfway between Newcastle and Dubbo. At the 2011 census, Merriwa had a population of 1,790 people. Up until 2004, Merriwa was part of the Merriwa Shire local government area, when it was merged with nearby Scone Shire and Murrurundi Shire councils to form the Upper Hunter Council. The 2021 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC2021) was a collection of world cups in the sport of rugby league, held in England from 15 October to 19 November 2022. England won hosting rights for the competition on 27 October 2016.
