Laarks
Laarks is an indie-rock band based out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Absolutely Kosher Records, an independent California-based music label, signed a recording contract with Laarks in August, 2009. Laarks' first record, ''An Exaltation of Laarks'' was released by Absolutely Kosher on November 3, 2009 and the LP was released on January 12, 2010. Members Laarks is made up of four members: Ian Jacoby on keyboard and vocals; Kyle Flater on guitar; Brian Moen on drums; and Zach Hanson on bass guitar. Current members of Laarks are former members of other bands such as Amateur Love, Sic Transit Gloria, The Softrocks, Laughing Bell, and The Shouting Matches. Influences Laarks lists musical influences including Wilco, Josh Rouse, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, The Weakerthans, Neil Young, Love-Cars, Halloween, Alaska, Pete Yorn, The Bad Plus, U2, Sigur Rós, The Strokes, Amateur Love, Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Jon Brion, and Helmet. Absolutely Kosher Records
Absolutely Kosher Records is an independent California-based record label founded in 1998 in San Francisco by Cory Brown. The label moved to Berkeley in 2002 and then to Emeryville in October 2006 when it partnered with Misra Records for 3 years before separating. Absolutely Kosher has been listed on the RIAA website since 2005 as a distributed label of a reporting member (Fontana, the label's distributor). However, the label is not itself a member, and neither pay dues nor corresponds with the RIAA. Absolutely Kosher is a member in good standing with A2IM. On September 20, 2011, a statement from Cory Brown was placed on the label's website informing people that the label would cease to release any more records for the foreseeable future due to financial difficulties. On October 6, 2023, Charles Bissell of The Wrens announced that he would be releasing new music under the name Car Colors and that his first 12" and the album to follow would be released on Absolutely Kosher. Trunk Space
The Trunk Space is an all-ages music venue in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It was located at 1124 N 3rd Street since 2016, but announced a need to move after May 2024 due to cost pressures. Background Originally a coffee cart called ''The Paper Cup'' in the later-defunct Paper Heart Gallery, in its original location on Van Buren Rd., co-owners JRC and Stephanie Carrico split from the Paper Heart Gallery to form The Trunk Space. The Trunk Space is an art gallery, coffee bar, and performance space. There are gallery shows twice a month, for Phoenix's First Friday and Third Friday art walks, with randomly occurring private events. The coffee bar features a full-service espresso machine which uses Xanadu coffee beans. The Viper Room is a nightclub and live music venue located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, United States. It was established under that name on August 14, 1993, co-owned by actors and ''21 Jump Street'' co-stars Johnny Depp and Sal Jenco. The Viper Room has undergone several changes in ownership. OK Go is an American Rock music, rock band originally from Chicago, Illinois, now based in Los Angeles, California.
