Les Braves de Valleyfield or the Valleyfield Braves are a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Junior Hockey League (LHJQ). They play in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec at the Aréna Salaberry. History As part of the College St. Lawrence, the team went by the name "St. Lawrence College of Québec Lions" during its first three seasons. After a modest first season, the Lions reached the playoffs in their second season. The 2005–06 season saw them reach the quarterfinals in the playoffs and achieve a winning regular season record. In 2007, the team was renamed the Quebec AssurExperts. In 2008, the team was purchased and moved to Thetford Mines and rebranded as the Thetford Mines Filons. Salaberry-de-Valleyfield () is a city in southwestern Quebec, Canada, in the Regional County Municipality of Beauharnois-Salaberry. The population as of 2021 was 42,410. The historic downtown is a major touristic centre for the area. Due to the presence of Lake St. Francis on the St. Lawrence River, St. Francis Bay in downtown, and of numerous rivers and canals all over the town, the city is nicknamed "The Venice of Quebec". The Melfort Mustangs are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada. They are members of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). The Edmundston Blizzard are a junior ice hockey team from Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. They play in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. History Moncton Beavers and also as Richview Junior Canucks and Moncton Hawks were members in the now defunct Nova Scotia Senior Hockey League (1958-1965) from 1961 to 1965. The Moncton Hawks were New Brunswick Junior Hockey League Junior A champions in 1981, 1982, and 1983. In 1983, the Moncton Hawks abandoned the faltering New Brunswick Junior Hockey League and joined the Metro Valley Junior Hockey League which until then was a Nova Scotia-based league. The Rockland Nationals (French: ''National de Rockland''), colloquially known as the Nats, are a Junior A ice hockey team based in Rockland, Ontario. The Nationals compete in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) as a member of the East Division. The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is an Alberta-based Junior A ice hockey league that belongs to the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). It was formed as a five-team league in 1964. The 2023–24 season began with 16 teams, however 5 teams did not finish the season after it was announced that they planned to join the BCHL in the 2024–25 season.
