La Salle School, Petaling Jaya
La Salle School, Petaling Jaya (simply referred to as La Salle PJ or LSPJ) is a national primary and secondary school in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It was established in 1959 by the De La Salle Brothers. The immediate aim in building this school was to ease the pressure for places in St. John's Institution, which was rapidly expanding at the time as well as cater for the needs of the growing township. Its primary and secondary school are formally known today as Sekolah Kebangsaan La Salle Petaling Jaya and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan La Salle Petaling Jaya. The school was administered by the De La Salle Brothers until 1980 for primary and 1988 for secondary. Since then, the heads have been lay individuals appointed by the Ministry of Education in consultation with the De La Salle Brothers in Malaysia. Education in Malaysia is overseen by the Ministry of Education ( ms, Kementerian Pendidikan). Although education is the responsibility of the Federal Government, each state and federal territory has an Education Department to co-ordinate educational matters in its territory. The main legislation governing education is the Education Act 1996. The education system is divided into preschool education, primary education, secondary education, post-secondary education and tertiary education. Secondary School

Lawrence Spitzig
Brother Datuk Tiberius Lawrence Spitzig, was a LaSallian brother, who was more famous for being Brother Director of St. John's Institution, Kuala Lumpur. He served two terms as head of the institution, in 1954–1960 and 1978–1983. Early life Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Spitzig left his home country in 1937 as he always wanted to be a missionary and was influence by the La Salle Brothers’ commitment to education. He also admits to always dreaming of teaching in a foreign country. He was a student brother when he grabbed the opportunity when there was a call for volunteers to work in South-East Asia. As an Educator His first assignment was at Saint Joseph's Institution, Singapore in 1938 at the age of 19, before he was transferred to St. John's Institution, Kuala Lumpur (SJI) in 1941. Lasallian educational institutions are educational institutions affiliated with the De La Salle Brothers, a Roman Catholic religious teaching order founded by French priest Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, who was canonized in 1900 and proclaimed by Pope Pius XII as patron saint of all teachers of youth on May 15, 1950.
