La Réole XIII
La Réole XIII are a semi-professional Rugby league club based in La Réole, Gironde in the Aquitaine region in the south of France. They were founded in 1938. From 2016-17 they will play in the National Division 2 Aquitaine Regional Competition. The club plays its home matches at the Stade Municipal La Reole and are currently coached by New Zealander Scott Hurrell History La Reole XIII were founded in 1938 and joined the French rugby league as an amateur club. In their first season they were crowned champions of the ''France 2nd Category'' which was the 3rd tier, now called the National Division 1. Their next trophy was the ''National Cup'' nowadays called the Coupe Falcou which they won in 1954. Another title triumph soon arrived in 1957, this time winning the top competition for amateur clubs the ''French Amateur Championship''. Coupe Falcou
The Albert Falcou Cup (french: Coupe Albert-Falcou), also called Albert Falcou French Cup (french: Coupe de France Albert-Falcou), is an annual knock-out competition organised by the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII for amateur rugby league clubs in France. History The competition was introduced in 1937 and was originally known as the French Amateur Cup. The inaugural winners were the short-lived La Rochelle club (during World War II the club was forced to merge with the city's rugby union club, Atlantique Stade Rochelais, by the Vichy Government of the time). When rugby league was legalised again at the end of the war, the cup was re-instituted as the National Cup. This incarnation was contested between 1945 and 1962. Elite 1 is the top level rugby league competition in France, sanctioned by the French Rugby League Federation. The season runs from September to April, which is in contrast to the majority of other major domestic rugby league competitions worldwide. The clubs play each other home and away then they enter into a play-off series culminating with a Grand Final. Racing Club Lescure-Arthès XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Lescure-d'Albigeois, Tarn in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The club plays in the French Elite Two Championship. Founded in 1964 as a youth side, their home ground is the Stade Jean Vidal. History Racing Club Lescure XIII as they were originally called were founded in 1964 by school teacher Jean Carayon as a youth team. Helped by fellow teachers ''Pierre Lapeyre'' and ''Henri Papailhau'' the team used to train and play anywhere they could until the Stade Jean Vidal was secured and became their base. Elite Two Championship
Elite 2 (formerly the Elite Two Championship) is the second tier semi-professional rugby league competition in France below Elite 1, but above the National Division 1. The season runs from September to April. The clubs play each other home and away before entering into a series of play-off matches resulting in a Grand Final. The winners can gain promotion to Elite 1 providing they meet a minimum criteria. Occasionally the runners-up could be offered promotion. History The league was previously called the National League 1 from 1958 to 2002. The Elite Two Championship was formed in 2002 when the French Rugby League Championship was split into two Elite One and Elite Two. There was no competition in 1987 and in 1988 the league was won on league placings and not by a series of play-offs. Roanne (; frp, Rouana; oc, Roana) is a commune in the Loire department, central France. It is located northwest of Lyon on the river Loire. The National Division 1 is the third tier of rugby league in France, below the Elite Two Championship and above the National Division 2. The season runs from September to April. From season 2012–13 the league was split into regions ''East'' and ''West'', each team plays each other in their regional league home and away with the top sides then meeting in a series of play-off matches resulting in a Grand Final. The winner can be promoted to ''Elite Two'' subject to having adequate finances and facilities.
