La Grita (river)
La Grita is a river that partly runs along the Colombian-Venezuelan border. A 1919 source noted that there was a very promising copper mine on the river, at Seporuco, but that it was at such high altitude that it could not be developed. It was navigable from the port of Guamas by boats and canoes. The towns of La Grita and La Fria are on the river. The towns of Boca de Grita, Venezuela, and Puerto Santander, Norte de Santander, Puerto Santander, Colombia, are at the mouth of La Grita River, where it flows into the Zulia River. In 1888 a railroad line was built between La Fria and El Brazo, and an international bridge was built in 1926. In 1926 plans to extend the Tachira Railway from Oropé Station to the river were noted. La Grita
La Grita is a town in the north west of Táchira state, Venezuela. It has a population of 80,000. Located in an Andean valley, La Grita has a beautiful natural setting and fertile land. The town includes colonial style houses and open plazas. The area offers visitors activities including hiking, camping, mountain climbing, as well as flora and fauna observation. Táchira State (, ) is one of the 23 States of Venezuela, states of Venezuela. The state capital is San Cristóbal, Táchira, San Cristóbal. General Juan Pablo Peñaloza National Park
The General Juan Pablo Peñaloza National Park (), also Páramos Batallón y La Negra National Park, is a national park of Venezuela that is formed by several páramos. Among them Batallón and La Negra, which are an important source of water supply. It is located between the states Mérida and Táchira, northwest of the Táchira Depression in the Páramos de El Batallón and La Negra in Venezuela. The rivers Uribante, Escalante, La Grita, Mocotíes, El Molino, Torbes, Orope, Umuquena, Bobo, Pereña and Quebrada Grande and the waters that feed the Uribante-Caparo hydroelectric complex are born here.
