LaVaughn Robinson (born LaVaughn Evett) (February 9, 1927 – January 22, 2008) was an American tap dancer, choreographer, and teacher. A virtuoso tap dancer, Robinson perfected a high speed, low to the ground, a cappella style of dance that was characterized by elegance, precision, and clarity of sound. In a career spanning over 70 years, he started performing on the street, then in nightclubs, and finally in national and international tap festivals. He was recognized by the National Endowment of the Arts as a "Living National Treasure", received a NEA National Heritage Fellowship in 1989, a lifetime honor, and a 1992 Pew Fellowship in the Arts. Maud Worcester Makemson (September 16, 1891 – December 25, 1977) was an American astronomer, a specialist on archaeoastronomy, and director of Vassar Observatory. Early life and education Maud Lavon Worcester was born in 1891 in Center Harbor, New Hampshire. She attended Girls' Latin School in Boston. She briefly attended Radcliffe College, but left to teach school. In high school and college she studied Latin, Greek, French, and German, and during school breaks she independently learned Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese. Mélange Lavonne is an American rapper active in the homo hop movement, a subgenre of hip hop performed by LGBTQ artists. Her songs focus on issues such as social equality, discrimination, and faith. Early life Lavonne was born and raised in Rialto, California, and attended Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, California. LaVonne Idlette (born October 31, 1985, in Miami, United States) is an American hurdler competing internationally for the Dominican Republic. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the Women's 100 metres hurdles.
