LaTonya Sims (Tonya Sims) (born January 8, 1979) is a former American basketball player for the Polish professional basketball league(PLKK) in Europe and the WNBA. She was a back-to-back girls' high school basketball All-American and Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year for Racine Park High School in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1997, she was named a first team high school All-American and rated the fifth best prospect in the country, making her the highest rated girls' basketball prospect in Wisconsin to date. She was also named Miss Wisconsin Basketball and went on to play for the University of Wisconsin. Washington Park High School
Washington Park High School (also known as Park or Racine Park High School) is a public, four-year high school in Racine, Wisconsin, USA, with an enrollment of over 2,400 students. Its school colors are blue and orange. The school's mascot, the panther, was adopted by the Class of 1949, reportedly because of a nearby Native American effigy mound in the shape of a panther. It is a part of the Racine Unified School District. History The school traces its roots to 1852 when Racine High School, one of the first public schools in Wisconsin, opened. The Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Big Ten Conference. Home games are played at the Kohl Center, located on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus in Madison, Wisconsin. Basket Liga Kobiet (BLK), currently known for sponsorship reasons as Energa Basket Liga Kobiet (EBLK; 2001–2013 Polska Liga Koszykówki Kobiet, PLKK) is a professional women's club basketball league in Poland. It constitutes the first and highest-tier level of the Polish league pyramid. The winning team of the final round are crowned the Polish Champions of that season. The BLK, which is played under FIBA rules, currently consists of 11 teams (professional basketball's clubs). A BLK season is split into a league stage and a playoffs stage. Wisconsin Miss Basketball
Each year the Wisconsin Miss Basketball award is given to the person chosen as the best high school girls basketball player in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The award has been given since 1983. Winners are chosen by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association at the time of their annual All-State selections. Most of the award winners have gone on to play at the highest levels of college basketball, and some have gone on to play in the Women's National Basketball Association. Voting is done by the members of the WBCA. Each member can vote and the winner is determined by the player with the most votes. Coaches may not put votes in for players on their own team. If it is done anyway, the vote is thrown out. The award can only be given to a Senior, This has been in effect since 2003 as Mistie Bass won the award 3 years in a row. The Wisconsin Badgers are the athletic teams representing the University of Wisconsin–Madison (University of Wisconsin).
