LaMarcus Adna Thompson (March 8, 1848 – May 8, 1919) was an American inventor and businessman most famous for developing a variety of gravity rides and roller coasters. Early years Thompson was born in Jersey, Licking County, Ohio on March 8, 1848. His parents were Adna Thompson (father), and Nancy D Thompson (mother). He had a brother named Olvid. In his adolescence he became a skilled carpenter. In 1873 he began operating a grocery store in Elkhart, Indiana. There he began designing a device to manufacture seamless hosiery. He made a fortune in that business, but failing health forced him to quit it. Father of the gravity ride and the roller coaster Thompson is best known for his early work developing roller coasters and for inventing the scenic railway genre of rides. LaMarcus Nurae Aldridge (born July 19, 1985) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for two seasons with the Texas Longhorns. Aldridge was selected second overall in the 2006 NBA draft. After spending nine seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs in 2015. In March 2021, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets after the Spurs bought out his contract. Lamarcus Brutus (born February 10, 1993) is an American football safety who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Florida State and signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2016. College career In 2012, as a redshirt freshman, Brutus played in six games mainly on special teams on the kickoff coverage team. In 2013, the redshirt sophomore saw action in 11 of FSU's 14 games as a backup defensive back and special teams contributor. LaMarcus Darnell Coker (born June 26, 1986) is a former football running back who played for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. College LaMarcus Coker enjoyed a successful college football career as a running back at the University of Tennessee and later, at Hampton University. Coker was named a starting running back at Tennessee near the end of the 2006 season. Coker scored a touchdown on his first college reception, a trick play pass from Lucas Taylor. LaMarcus Hicks (born April 15, 1983 in Clarksdale, Mississippi) is a former American football safety. He was signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Iowa State. Hicks, a defensive back with Iowa State who played professionally with the Detroit Lions, comes to North Texas after spending last season at Concordia University as the defensive backs coach. Hicks played for McCarney at Iowa State for two seasons and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2005 while leading the conference in interceptions. LaMarcus DeWayne McDonald (born February 25, 1981, in Waco, Texas) is a former All-American linebacker at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. At Waco High School, McDonald was named to the first-team 5A All-State team by the Associated Press, and was teammates with current Kansas City Chiefs' linebacker Derrick Johnson.
